but isn't there a conservative legal group in DC. We ought to at least alert them.

Here's the place that might be interested! They take on conservative causes.

I am currently reading Hillary's Secret War. This does not help my paranoia one bit.

Maybe we don't have Federal Gate Keepers but looks like the gates are being put in place anyway.

I agree with all you said Quix.

Hard news could be done fairly easily by using the quotes and rewriting the story and slant, but editorials would be impossible unless you wrote it yourself with out any quotes that would lead to a plagiarism charge.

Basically, we can just blog.

Rats. This is on their referral page:

So far, I'm only finding the Rutherford Istitute in Virginia, which specializes in civil liberties, and Judicial Watch.

Freeping The Net

I've reported this to the Washington Compost and LA Slimes but so far neither site has done anything about it.

Send a copy of the LAT/WP judgement to the website operator, and to LAT/WP, and inform both that you're copying the other.

If you get some choice comments from the website operator, post them on FR.

I imagine that we could use a long history of Left websites & LAT/WP or Gannett sites ignoring such notifications to demolish their phony "copyright" claims.

I've just now looked over at the chimp site, the first article I looked at was a post in FULL from the LAT.

Jim, who would be best to follow up on such possibilities?

IF

as it seems, liberal sites have no such restrictions from the vast majority of the very liberal press,

that is a big issue, it seems to me.

Then, there's the whole issue of FAIR USE being shredded in practice.

Given the crucial nature of a TRULY FREE PRESS to the health of FREEDOMS and our REPUBLIC in general, it may well be nigh past time for a conservative public interest law org to take this on.

I just don't think it's worth the risks and hassles trying to paraphrase. Jim has enough headaches! LOL.

Maybe 2-3% could do it "safely" and even they would get complaints & suits from some of these rabid lib publications.

Thanks.

Hmmmmmm, doesn't Pat Robertson's univ specialize in journalism, media etc?

I think I'll wander over to his website and see if I can drop them a note and see what response I get.

It would help if some of our web hotshots could dig up some clear examples of the double standard.

Seems to me we might need to contact all such places and see who gives the best response.

But first, we need some clear cut examples of the double standard or we need to go with the clear trashing of the FAIR USE standard.

Just paid a visit (yuck) to DU. Among other items, they have an editorial IN FULL from the WaPo.

At least I think it's in full, since there was NOT EVEN A LINK for it.

So I couldn't check to see if it was a full article. If it was an excerpt, this did not indicate any sort of excerpting.

But they must not be too worried about getting reprimanded, since they didn't even post a link to it. Wonder why...
