"Bush says he is sorry."

I agree. He is sorry.

Actually, he is a great Commander in Chief. But, he is a sorry President. His actions over the last two days makes it really look like he is switching into klinton's infamous "legacy building mode". Now THAT'S sorry.

I'll say this again here for effect...

I believe that the President's apology is intended to say that He, as Commander-in-Chief is ultimately responsible for the actions of the men under his command... unlike his predecessor... thus absolving blame from Rummy. But, neither of these men is guilty of anything accept in the eyes of the Left for perhaps upholding the defense and dignity of this great nation in the face of butchers, liers, heathens, and otherwise tiny little men.

But, do let them know your thoughts in this regard. I assure you, the Left is desperate and we are now facing another onslaught of their lies, rhetoric and agitprop. The partisan media has as much to lose in the upcoming election as do the Democrats and if/when The President prevails in his election effort, the network Corporates will have no choice but to acknowledge the 'turning' and clean house across the face of the biased partisan media from the LA Times to CNN and on through the alphabet. Do not believe for a second that they do not know it, and will say or do anyting to prevent that from happening. And certainly do not look for anything but increased savagery on their part and their allies at Al Jazeera, and in their friends the butchers on killing streets of Iraq.

Let the President and all of the Republican leaders know your thoughts on this issue, and DO NOT leave it to the likes of Chris Matthews (the tiniest man of all) to convey.

Bush did the right thing. When someone on your team screws up, you acknowledge the mistake, explain that you are sorry it happened and promise to do your best to make sure it doesn't happen again. Those who will attack Bush, as if this is weakness, are mistaken.

When it's time to kick butt, you do it. When it's time to acknowledge some mistakes, you do it.

This isn't Bush's mistake, but he speaks for our nation.

Now, don't wallow in it any longer. Move on Mr. President. If the press tries not to let you, just tell them that you have acknowledged the mistake, you have appologized and you have taken steps to make sure it doesn't happen again. Then ask them what part of that they're having a problem with?

"That's all I can do. It's over. Get over it!"

President Bush's words were very carefully chosen. He did not apologize per se but, as is eminently reasonable, said he is indeed sorry for what happened. There's a crucial difference. If Bush refused to say he is sorry, the Arab world will continue to cry out that Bush refuses to say he is sorry, and that Bush is really laughing at what happened. We are in a war for our survival. The fuel in your car is from the Middle East. Winning the hearts and minds of those in the Arab lands is as critical as anything can be. Two more photos came out today: one of an arab stripped, tied, and bent severely back against a bunk - with a pair of panties covering his head; the other of a stripped arab man lying on a floor with what looks like a leash around his neck held by a U.S. soldier (the implication is that the prisoner is bbeing treated deliberately like a dog.)You may at first smile at this. But think again - how would you react if you saw American prisoners - your own countrymen - being culturally humiliated in this manner. You would justifably be in a rage; and you, too, would call it torture. With these new photos, Bush had no choice but to say he was sorry for what happened. He was absolutely right.

Saying your sorry is not a sign of weakness it is a sign of strength. I will certainly vote for My president George W. Bush this fall and encourage others to do so.

George Bush is a man who is not concerned about the political fallout that could come from saying sorry on behalf of the nation. He is a great president. He has taken the responsibility.

Bush should of sent Little Miss Dynamite!

I'm sorry, so sorry,
that I was such a fool,
I didn't know,
That life could be so cruel,
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh yes...

The press has been trying for a month to get GWB to utter the A-word.

He finally did.

Trouble is, in the muslim world, that makes GWB (and the US) appear weak(er).

Truly Sorry
Thursday, May 06, 2004
By Neil Cavuto

A lot of people think President Bush should apologize for this whole Iraqi prisoner mess.

Funny, but I don't remember hearing anyone say the deviants who strung up those four American contractors in Fallujah (search) should apologize.

Or for that U.S. military convoy that was blown to bits checking out a supposedly sacred mosque. No one's apologizing to them.

Or to the families of those earliest American prisoners of the war (search), two of whom were butchered and hacked in captivity. No apologies there.

Truly Sorry [continued]

I dunno, some of these pics were humorisitic. Many people laugh about it at work, liberals first.

Did you know that those voting no to the destruction of the jail are Democrats?

And what about the 9-11 hijackers going to a nudie bar the night before their attack? What about the Gitmo prisoners masturbating in front of their guards? Simply too many have been sucked in by the Islamic "humiliation" canard. I personally find women humiliating Muslim men, who I'm sure are devotees of Islams brutality of women, quite refreshing.

I was discussing this with a friend and an aspect of the whole situation I note (and this goes to the heart of the liberal's demand for an "I'm sorry") is the dichotomy of feelings among conservatives & liberals on whether the Presidency represents an office or a person.

I believe strongly that the former interpretation is the correct form, as it helps to avoid cults of personality, and instills the proper civic lesson in both the Pesident and the populace. A president is merely the man (or woman) who is temporarily occupying the office of "The Presidency".

President Reagan, for example, always wore a coat and tie in the Oval Office, out of respect for "the office". In contrast, Bill Clinton "personified" the presidency as had never been done before, and certainly he developed a cult of personality among his loyal followers. During impeachment, for example, his defenders never addressed the question of whether the office of the Presidency was being damaged by the occupant's various illegal and insulting behaviors, but rather personified it completely as an issue of "personal" behavior (also, just look how the Democrats can't wait for the Hillary to return them to "the throne"... more cult at work).

The concept of a president "feeling our pain", as Pres. Clinton so often voiced, is alien to the way all prior president's had behaved. Leaving aside his personal reprehensible behavior (I know it's hard to do), I am nonetheless very against with the personal "feel your pain" demeaner that President Clinton brought to the office. To me, it was totally inappropriate for the office of "the Presidency." And it carried over into his official behavior, not only in terms of his Oval office trysts (while literally on the phone with Congressmen and international leaders!), but even in terms of simple snubs to "the office" like Oval Office pizza parties.

And this leads to my main thrust. An individual can say "I'm sorry" for their personal transgressions. A nation cannot say "I'm sorry" (it's even the wrong verb tense), but instead can have their "regret", etc. expressed on behalf of the nation by its leader.

The President speaks for the nation, not as an individual. For a president to say "I'm sorry" for either national policy or a gross perversion of it by his subordinates is, to me, misguided. When the President meets with with families of deceased servicement, he doesn't say (nor should he) "I'm sorry your son/daughter died." And that is because (despite what many libs think) the president, not as an individual but as a duly elected officer of the nation, sent their family member to war. As such, he "expresses the thanks and condolances, on behalf of the nation, for the loyal service of their family member," using words very similar to this (that's 300,000,000 expressions of condolance, not just 1). To me, the closest a President could come to saying "I'm sorry" in an official capacity would be for him to "express the sorrow felt by the nation."

Now maybe it's different when the president is talking between peers, as in the case of the Jordanian King, but I'm opposed to the President using the words "I'm sorry" when speaking on matters of policy gone awry.

I don't recall any apology from the so called "arab world" for our losses on 9-11. We should make no apologies while prosecuting a war on terror. Seek search and annhilate all terrorists making no apologies along the route.
