Thanks dude.
I sure wish people would stop calling this an apology.
Let's say a good friend's wife is in a car accident. One can say "I'm so sorry" without meaning "the accident was my fault."

I called into a talk show this afternoon for the first time, and that was exactly my point. Enemies of the WOT foreign and domestic can manufacture an "event" any time they feel like it. What is W going to do apologize again? and again and again?
If he tried to not apologize then it "Why? Is mistreated prisoners worse then killing women and children? or whatever. He is now caged in a trap of his own making. Now he has to justify or apologize for every "event" that occurs on the battle field. The war is now a PC war. There ain't no winning a PC war.

This is a legitimate question, if you can answer it.
What is really bothering you?
This war is no more PC than Rush Limbaugh is.
There's got to be something else underneath your ludicrous pessimism and false accusations. What's really wrong with you?

That if the coach refuses to let the team score and instead gives the ball to the opposing team (Fallujha). Then the coach starts pointing out minor infractions that his team is commiting, apoligizes to the other team in the middle of the damn game with both teams and fans watching?
I think the coach would be looking for a new team real quick.

It looks like Petronski in #802 has the same idea I had.
***The Satae Department has actual papers that are called "non-paper papers." these officially transmit messages in the world of diplomacy. I will everyone would relax about this 'apology.' President Bush Does know the right thing to say, as we know from 1200 days of reading the Daily Dose quotes!

I might very well have gotten the idea FROM you. I know the analogy was not mine, but it sure helped clarify things for me.

I think just the opposite it's Kerry fighting for his life asking for Rumsfeld's resignation. He's losing in the polls and he hasn't been nominated for Prez yet. Did anyone hear Dick Morris's comment about the Clintons maybe trying to get Kerry to nominate Hillary for V.P. bring her on that will really sink Kerry's boat what a b**tch.

Oops, I must step away from the keyboard - my eyes are quitting on me.

I think the coach would be looking for a new team real quick. You mean the team would be looking for a new coach? Good analogy, otherwise, except there's one more rule--the team can has only two choices for coach: the one they've already got or the opposing team's coach.

He is now caged in a trap of his own making. Now he has to justify or apologize for every "event" that occurs on the battle field. I don't think this is the case here. Bush can apologize ---- the fewer words the better. I think he sincerely would have preferred the whole hazing-type antics had not have taken place --- that can be a genuine feeling and he should be able to express it.

Time to take a break, maica. ;o) Go for a walk.
I'm betting, though, that these guys never say the words "I'm sorry," even if they're in an accident or go to a funeral, or step on someone's toe inadvertantly.
I don't imagine they're too much fun to be around..........just guessing though.....
The basic decency of our President bugs them. It's weird.

If we don't fight to win, don't go on a war footing we are going to lose. The Chinese are watching as are the Koreans. So is Iran, this war is for real. It's not a touchy, feely game. It's a freakin war. Things could turn against us in a BIG way at any moment. We need strong leadership, and we are NOT getting it.

I just posted my opinion on another thread about this topic:
I don't mind him [President Bush] "apologizing" for the methods of interrogation used on Iraqi prisoners if it helps in any way win the war against militant Islamic terrorists.

In the last 48 hours, a group of freepers have gone positively wobbly in a way I have ever seen before. You'd think this was spring 1940 in the French High Command.
