Naturally, I love Margaret Thatcher, and I hate that Blair is a socialist. In this speech, I find two things troublesome:

1. former prime minister criticizing current prime minister - we don't like it when BJ Clinton and Jimmah C do it.

2. criticizing Blair for not "carrying the nation" in the Iraq War. They didn't want to be carried. What was he supposed to do? It's like criticizing W. for not convincing the UN, France, and Germany to support the invasion. They just wouldn't do it. OTOH, I suppose it's like when a batter strikes out. Was it a great pitch or a poor swing? Could a better leader have gotten popular opinion behind the war?

Blair has been a staunch ally, and in that he deserves our unswerving support.

If his administration is implementing leftist tax and spend policies, he should be taken to task for it. I do however wince at a war-related criticism of Blair. As far as I have seen, he's been in there kicking, and very positive. He's been on the floor at the House of Commons giving the leftists what for. He has probably offended many in his own party for his stance. He has certainly tweaked the EU pussies.

I have a lot of respect for Maggie Thatcher. Obviously she must see something I haven't.

Sounds like Maggie's got a vision. Lookout...Bush is doing a great job, but he could probably use a speech or 2 from Maggie just to make sure he doesn't go wobbly.
