God bless the Salvadoreans. They are sent by God. These soldiers if they are not spirit filled they are gorilla fighters.

Good soldiers, good men. A sending of thanks to the Salvadoran embassy in D. C. would not be out of order. At least some of these Salvadorans in Iraq probably attended the School of the Americas at Ft. Benning, Ga. Some of the hard left in the U.S., including radical clergy, have organized demonstrations yearly there against this school. This stems from the 1980's and civil wars in Central America against Marxist guerrillas, promoted partly by these same radical clergy and their unthinking followers. They have vilified the School of the Americas as teaching torture, etc., etc., while in fact the emphasis there is teaching the maintaining of human rights even in the midst of war. That is to say winning the hearts and minds of the population. This of course is counter to the agenda of the Marixists, who would like to point to the militaries as being the tools of the Yankee imperalists. Two of the biggest sympathizers, and sycophants, with the Marxist radicals in Middle and South America and their ilk here: Chris Dodd and John Kerry.

Yes yes, the Left arrives at the gates of Fort Benning every November to protest against the training of Latin American soldiers and police in what is now called the WHINSEC or the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation. Martin Sheen showed up several years. Mostly retro-hippies and Vegitarian types prance around with MaryKnoll nuns and other weirdo supporters of Castro and terrorism. Last November several motorcycle clubs participated in a counter-protest and showed their appreciation for Fort Benning. The hippies did not appreciate being upstaged by over two hundred Harleys.

Looks like a Buck 110 Folding Hunter. Great knife, great steel.

Someone from here ought to get him a bigger blade for next time.

May the Harley rally be an annual S. O. A. event at Benning. Our oldest son earned and wears a Lancero badge.

Cpl. Samuel Toloza of El Salvador's Cuscatlan Battalion displays his bloodstained knife that he used to fend off Iraqi gunmen in Najaf, Iraq, last Saturday. (AP)

NAJAF, Iraq -- One of his friends was dead, 12 others lay wounded and the four soldiers still left standing were surrounded and out of ammunition. So Salvadoran Cpl. Samuel Toloza said a prayer, whipped out his knife and charged the Iraqi gunmen.

In one of the only known instances of hand-to-hand combat in the Iraq conflict, Cpl. Toloza stabbed several attackers swarming around a comrade. The stunned assailants backed away momentarily, just as a relief column came to the unit's rescue.

The Spaniards didn't fight and only after a long delay agreed to send armored vehicles to help evacuate the wounded. Col. Flores said he cannot question the Spanish decisions that day, but added that the Spaniards "could have helped us sooner."

Scum.

I'd prefer a Cold Steel Magnum Tanto, but then... I am a bit bigger than the average Salvadoran, and have trained with japanese style weapons for years. Of course, a Buck will do the job, provided the mind and will guiding the hand is as keen of edge.

This soldier's was.

GOOD.

That model is a fine combat knife for the money. I paid less than 50 bucks for mine. Any Becker Knife and Tool model is also good for a fighting man, as are the more robust Columbia River Knife and Tool folders.

I also like the Spyderco James Keating Chinook II and the Spyderco Military. No, I am not a fighting man, just a collector and part time knife magazine writer.
