What the article dosn't have is the reaction from my imbecile Congresscritter Ed "Fast Eddie" Markey (D)Mass., who blames this tragedy on the Republican Congress.

Don't forget Tom Delay and Bill Frist.

And blame yourself while you're at it.

I suspect a Cheney/Halliburton connection to surface soon.

Poor Ed Markey, when the 'rats controled the House he was a big shot Chairman. Now his big issue is amusement park safety.

I wonder if this death was caused by the ADA.

industry officials said Monday that the statistical chance of dying on a ride is one in 760 million.

If we can save but one life by spending $200 million to commission a study to determine the safety of T-bar restraints and impose a government mandate requiring amusment park owners to modify rides with T-bar restraints it will be all worth it.

A lot of press here about this here. The mother want's to know how they could let him on the ride, duh. The law is clear in such matters. A traggic accident but I'm guessing she'd be the 1'st one to complain if they hadn't let him on.

"I wonder if this death was caused by the ADA."

The deceased was 230 lbs, 5'2", 55 years old with cerebral palsy.

Are you implying something?

I found it interesting that when this first hit the news, the mother was saying "He's 200+ pounds and has CP, how could they let him on that ride?"....insinuating it was the fault of the park for letting him ride. Then, when it surfaced that per ADA, if a person can get themselves on the ride the park has to let them ride, and that his disability may have caused the accident if he misjudged his ability to hold himself in the ride, she changed tunes, stating "He had a season pass to the park, and he would leave his scooter in the parking lot and walk through the park"....now insinuating that it must have been mechanical failure of the harness not his disability, because he's not that disabled...Geesh. Wonder when the lawsuit will come out. Sounds like Mama wants some bucks.

I remember something similar happening over 20 years ago. At the time it was established that if the person was short and over a certain weight, the centrifigal force popped them out of the ride like a piece of popcorn. I kid you not. But then again, I did read this over 20 years ago! :)
