Perhaps in the future, I can see it put to the rigorous test as another freeper said, maybe 25 years as a citizen or something. I would not feel comfortable voting for Arnold to be president as he's turning liberal faster than a wood lathe.

The ironic thing is that many - not all - of our immigrants have more of the American spirit than some of our natural-borns. They know cultural and economic enslavement and had the guts to escape.

How is Arnold a "loser" in life compared to say...you?

At first I was very gunho about him, but he's turning out to be a Clinton. At the last time, he turned into a raving social lib. He called the folks fighting for Prop.54 right wing crazies. Oh well.

He gives a speech supporting our greatest ally in the Middle East, a nation living on the edge everyday, and he's all of a sudden a "liberal", a "self-hating Austrian" and a "loser"???

Now, put down the Kool-Aid, and please don't go to a Pat Buchanan convention.

Between (R)nold and (R)len Spenctor I begin to suspect that conservatives are like the battered wives section of the Republican Party

:shrugging: I think certain folks in the republican party and 99.9% democrats have a vested interest in keeping illegal aliens coming and keeping racial classifications alive and well. You're right. That makes me wonder if this government really is for the people, by the people or if that's idealistic crapola.

I'm leaning towards the latter, right now.

"It seems most of your fellow posters here are sufficiently brainwashed to accept anyone who plays well in their media."

Perhaps you are half right. We do like people who say what we believe and ALSO play well in the media. Clinton played well in the media and I would venture a guess that most at Free Republic can't stand the evil ba$tard. I know I can't.

On the other hand, the media can't stand GWB, which is all the more reason to like and respect our President.

He's not Reagan II, but he's way better than Gore would have been. And, I hope that he's re-elected. The Democrats are dangerous, in my ever so humble opinion.

"Except he is prohibited by the U.S. Constitution".

Yes, Arnold cannot be POTUS and it should remain that way. I've posted this here before, but in case anyone missed it here it is again.

My husband came out of Cuba during Castro's revolution. He has now lived in the U.S.A. longer than he lived in Cuba. His parents urged him to leave Cuba and he never saw them again. After he arrived in America he tried to get them out, but Castro's Iron Curtain had dropped. He's an American citizen and he loves America. He never looked back. He flies the American Flag outside our house. However, friends of ours (she's a born-in America American and her husband is an ex-Cuban) visted Cuba two years ago. Ellen was telling us about a beach they visted in Cuba and she was waxing eloquent about the beauty of this beach. She kept saying she never saw such a beautiful beach. I happened to glance at my husband and I saw such a look of nostalgia and remembrance in his face. Finally, he named the beach and Ellen said that was the beach.

For some reason my husband never wants to see an American President who was not born in America. I asked him why and he said "I wouldn't trust him, but I'll always trust an American".
