Computer Problems Ground All Delta Airline Flights
KRON Channel 4 San Francisco ^ | May 1, 2004 | wire report

Posted on 05/01/2004 2:17:04 PM PDT by threat matrix

Delta Air Lines says all of its flights have been grounded by a computer glitch.

A company spokeswoman says, 'Right now, there are no flights going out.'

She adds, 'We are working as fast as we can to get our passengers back in the air.'

The spokeswoman did not say how many flights were being held at the gates or what time the computer glitch occurred.

She did say that 'this is not a security issue.'

Atlanta based Delta is the nations third largest carrier.

Looks like the Free Republic database crash is more severe than first reported.

Let's just hope they get their planes up there with them.

What a crock. I've been in the airline industry for another major airline for 15 years doing everything from F/A to res to ticketing. NEVER has [or could] a computer system shutdown cause a complete grounding of all flights. This story is a cover. If ALL DL flights were grounded, something very bad is happening and it is NOT the "computer problem" stated in the article. Get your tin foil on folks.

"Delta formed a joint-venture company with AT&T GIS called TransQuest Information Solutions, which was formalised in January 1995."

This story is a cover.

I have to agree. The last (and only) time all Delta flights were grounded -- other than for labor strikes -- was on 9/11.

Sounds like there was credible evidence of an attack, and the intel had it narrowed to one carrier.

Im a dispatcher for a midwestern airline. When our network crashed, we were blind. No weather, no performance data or maintenece data. We have back up methods for dispatching, but we opted to cease operations for safetys sake. We cancelled a lot of flights that day..

The rules changed after 9/11. If they can't vet the passengers, they can't board or take-off.

I think the real story is that Delta is about to go belly-up.

According to www.flightarrivals.com, no Delta flights have left ATL since 5 pm EDT.

DELTA: Once an acronym for "Doesn't Everything Lead To Atlanta", it now stands for "Drop Everything, Lets Try Again".
