"Fox News Sunday's" Chris Wallace announced Friday that he's planning to respond to ABC "Nightline" host Ted Koppel's decision to air photos and names of GI's Killed in Iraq, calling Koppel's broadcast "a stunt."
"I think it is such a stunt," Wallace told WRKO-Boston radio host Howie Carr.
"I will just say one thing to all of your listeners," he added. "Watch 'Fox News Sunday' this Sunday because we are going to have our response to Koppel and 'Nightline.'"
Wallace refused to be more specific about his plans for Sunday's show, but told Carr his response would be "a corrective."
"It's not a stunt, it's a corrective. It's what Fox News was invented to be, which is, we're different than the other guys and we're going to give you the other side of the story."
Pressed by Carr, Wallace elaborated just a bit. "We have an announcement we're going to make about Mr. Koppel and 'Nightline' and their show - and our response to it."
Asked if he was "declaring war on Ted Koppel on Sunday morning," Wallace told Carr, "You'll see. Some people may think it's that. . . It's going to make some news."

What time does it start? Fox affiliates get the feed at 8 am CDT (9 am Eastern), though some (like my local affiliate) delay it (I get mine at 9 am). Fox News Channel reruns it at 4 pm CDT.
That ain't a swan that getting ready to serenate Ted :-)

On Glenn Beck's radio show last week, they were reading the names of the soldiers that were still alive and serving in Iraq as a counter to Koppel.

I appreciate you posting the names of those lost on September 11, 2001. We don't see nearly enough of the images of 9/11 in the news - it is as though the mainstream has forgotten the event or wants us to forget it. Maybe Chris Wallace will be replaying Fox News' coverage of 9/11 attacks in their entirety.

When you think about it the Democrats ruled in the Congress for a long time before Republicans made a comeback.
The same is true of the media and the tide is turning there also.
Since the broadcast media responds more quickly to changes in the public attitude (due to the speed at which ratings can be compiled) this is where the liberal slant will cause a loss of audience first.
CNN was the first to fall and it's ratings slide continues. Next will be the alphabet networks (CBS,NBC,ABC) who, in reality, are entertainment networks that do news as a sideline.

Nightline exploited the dead, rather than honor them. Why didn't they read the names of the Afghanistan casualties?

You have the right idea. The most appropriate response to ABC is a listing of the 3,000 victims of 9/11. That's why we're fighting....to prevent future 9/11's from happening.

Good on Fox News! Kopple pretended 9/11/01 never happened and that Afghanistan doesn't exist....what about our troops STILL in Bosnia after Clinton declared VICTORY in HIS war??

My first question to Koppel would be to ask him how he reacted to the flap over the first Bush ads when he used the pictures of the WTC. Remember the big bru hau about that ad. This was so tranparently political just by the fact that, #1 this thing ain't over, more people are going to die, #2 the fact that he decided to run this piece one year to the date of the carrier landing and Bush announcng the end to major combat. It's a real insult to my intelligence that I am being told that politics has nothing to do with reading the names last night.
To: BurbankKarl
Thank you for the list of names of the people murdered on 9/11/01...which Koppel did NOT read.

This stunt by Koppel is just revolting! I am very thankful for our troops and pray for them unceasingly. I am sure that their families do not want them to be forgotten. At the same time, I would not want a family member of mine exploited for ratings or to hurt the President, which I am sure are two of his intentions.

"Koppel is probably standing there and thinking he will ride out this storm and help in the process of taking down GW. He forgets that commerical advertisers have to pay for your programming, and they hate heat."
A very good post. So true that the lib media has seen better days. With Hannity, Fox News and all of the rest of the conservative radio army, the lib media itself is becoming "the news". By the way, I just got Hannity's book for a B-Day gift. It is fantastic. Every young person needing some guidance, should read it. Very well done.

An interesting article on Yahoo news mentioned that ad rates are down for the main four networks as cable channels gain more traction. I hope this is doubly true for the news on those networks.

I detect Brit's fingerprints on this...he has a wicked sense of humor.
It's so refreshing to reflect on how conservatives have turned the tables on the MediaCrats. We saw a little of it in the Bush 2000 campaign. My favorite: the event where Dubya entered the arena as they blared "Don't Stop Thinking About Tomorrow". Freepers were freakin' out...why are they playing THAT?! Then we heard the needle scratch all the way across the disk and it was replaced with "Won't Get Fooled Again" by The Who. The crowd (and the Freeprs) went wild!
It was really notable in the Florida recount. "Sore/Loserman", "Get out of Cheney's house"...both made national news. I was down in Florida and I witnessed reporters coming over to our side just to read our signs and hear the chants. They were cracking up and I have no doubt the humor ameliorated the negative coverage we'd come to expect.
I find it remarkable the libs haven't picked up on it. Their lame attempts to put forward people like Franken and Garoffolo are just pitiful. They fail to comprehend that our humor is spontaneous (thanks Freepers!). Go read a liberal website and humor is the last thing you'll find. They just don't get it.
