Kerry is comming to California, and I'm hoping to get some CA FReepers to join me. I have no concrete information yet (just the dates, not exact locations), I'm just trying to find out how many people would like to do this.
Kerry will be visiting the Golden state on wednesday, may 5 and thursday May 6; While the location is still unknown, the information will be provably on his website in a couple of days. I think we should FReep him, any one up for it? A fellow freeper and me were trying to figure out some poster ideas, and we came up with this: how about we buy a bunch of flip/flops,I believe they sell them at the 99¢ store(50¢ a Flip flop!, it doesn't get any better than that). We could stick these on posters and stuff like that. It would be funny as hell.
If we decide to FReep him, I'll keep you posted on the exact locations.
Good post for the techies. They all know about political JK Flip Flops also.
Kerry is Coming!! (California)

Democrats fear Kerry looking like Gore
NJ.COM ^
Posted on 04/30/2004 12:39:17 PM PDT by Sub-DriverDemocrats fear Kerry looking like Gore
By RON FOURNIER The Associated Press 4/30/2004, 3:24 p.m. ET
WASHINGTON (AP) It's a recurring nightmare for Democratic strategist Tony Coelho the party's presidential candidate portrayed as a flip-flopping opportunist, ill-served by a strife-torn staff. It happened in 2000, when Coelho ran Al Gore's campaign. Now, it's happening to John Kerry.Democratic leaders fear he's getting "Gored."
"What the Kerry people don't understand is, it's succeeding," Coelho said.
Scores of Kerry supporters like the former California congressman say their initial response is to remain hopeful, based on polls showing the presumptive nominee tied with President Bush while the Democratic Party is better funded and more united than in 2000. But they are worried about history repeating itself.
"No question, it's a rerun of 2000," said Donna Brazile, campaign manager for the former vice president's 2000 race.
"Every Sunday, Team Bush goes in overdrive by outlining the upcoming week's attacks on Kerry. It's followed by paid advertisements and assigning top-notch surrogates," Brazile said. "This is the exact moment in 2000 when Gore was seriously damaged as the Bush team painted the former vice president as a "serial exaggerator.'"
Republicans are pressing the same points against Kerry, mocking him at every turn.
"How many times can a flip-flop flip before a flip-flop becomes a flop?" Bush spokesman Steve Schmidt asked in a recent news release.
Kerry has given the GOP plenty of fodder...
-- snip --
...Supporters say the strategy is even broader the White House is throwing every conceivable flip-flop or character flaw at Kerry's feet, just as they did to Gore.
Early in the 2000 campaign, Republicans accused the former vice president of taking credit for inventing the Internet, a claim Gore never quite made. Bush's team also jumped on a suggestion by Gore that he and his wife were the models for the novel "Love Story." The vice president later said he was wrong, and chalked it up to a miscommunication.
Neither incident alone ruined Gore's image, but Republicans planted seeds of doubt harvested late in the campaign by Bush.
During a fall debate, Gore said he accompanied Federal Emergency Management Agency director James Lee Witt to a Texas fire zone. Gore's campaign later said he inspected the fires, but not with Witt.
It was a small mistake, but big enough for GOP vice presidential candidate Dick Cheney to say in September 2000 that Gore "has failed to speak the truth" about all sorts of things.
Sound familiar?

Two things: get cheap flip flops and smack them together in time to chants, and somewhere, somehow......find a dolphin suit so someone can portray "Flipper."We used both techniques at our Wheeling freep, and it clearly did not please the Kerry crowd. The afterfreep report quotes some of our favorite chants. We also did, "Pro-life, pro-Bush (repeat 3 or 4 times); pro-coal, pro-Bush; pro-steel, pro-Bush," etc. In other words, take a local issue on which Kerry's voting record stinks and the Bush administration's is better.

Wheeling's afternoon paper reported:
Nearly 1,000 people from across the Ohio Valley turned out this morning at Wheeling Park's White Palace to listen to Democratic presidential hopeful John Kerry as he kicked off his "Jobs First Bus Tour" of four key election states...
--snip --
Okay, that's one account. Here's mine:
I arrived at Wheeling Park's White Palace around 8:30 a.m. and stood near the main driveway with my signs. One had photos of waffles and said, "Where do you stand today, John?" The other said, "John Kerry said, 'Our Democracy is a Farce,' Nov. 2, 1971 at Bethany College. Maybe he should run for president of China - or France?" I also had an old pair of flipflops, which I smacked together for effect.
Shortly after I set up, fellow freeper sonsofliberty2000 showed up with a fine sign with a drawing of flipflops and a related message. We stood in the cool, damp weather for a while before deciding to to closer to the building. We received a few rude remarks and middle digits (Democrat IQ readings).
After a little while, a woman approached and asked whether we'd seen the kids from the local Catholic high school, as they were going to bring pro-life signs. We said we hadn't, but it wasn't long before about two dozen fine young people arrived.
Also joining us were some Bush campaign people, including one young man dressed as the dolphin Flipper (get it? Flip flop? Flipper?)Some moms with small children also joined us a little later, and they made pro-life signs. One of the guys had a bullhorn, and we regaled the assembled Dems (mostly union) with various chants. Kerry was at least 45 minutes late (emulating Bill Clinton), and we couldn't see him sneak in the back way. At our peak, we had about 40 on our side.
The event was supposed to last from 10:30 a.m. - noon, but it was well after noon before the attendees started leaving. Kerry was taking his time, even though he already was late for his next appearance in Washington, Pa.
Our GOP operatives told us that he's really getting upset at the protesters greeting him wherever he goes, so keep up the good work, freepers and others!CLICK HERE for the rest of that thread(bold and color added by RonDog)

Napa Valley College Conservative Club proves not all college kids are liberal
Founder: 'It's a response to the liberal environment we are in'

Being assigned Michael Moore's liberal bestseller "Stupid White Men" for an English course or listening to a professor's liberal convictions during a geometry lecture are just two incidents that motivated conservative students at Napa Valley College to mobilize this year.
"It's a response to the liberal environment we are in," said Stephen Wolfe, the 21-year-old founder of the Conservative Club, one of a growing number of conservative college groups that are showing up across the country.
The local club's inaugural event was a satirical sale of waffles and pancakes in honor of Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., while the theme from the old television show "Flipper" played on a small stereo. A flier highlighted some of the changing stances of Kerry -- the presumed Democratic Party candidate for president -- on education initiatives, anti-terrorism laws and the Iraq war...

To: pennboricuaTake a page from the scene in Monty Python's "Life of Brian" where they hoisted a sandal on a pole.
Mount a pair of flip-flops on a 10-foot pole and just silently stand there - speaking volumes. A little twirl once in a while might draw the cameras.
If this catches on they may start banning you when they see the poles, so Plan B would have a telescoping version . . . It might also pay to have some video cameras ready to catch them trying to tear your display down.
Or . . . Giant pics of Kerry's face - one side showing him facing left, the other facing right. The dems will take you for a supporter - Then just silently flip-flop the picture while he talks - you'll get your message across without saying a word - very effective.

"A perfect 10 FlipFlop"
John Kerry political cartoon.
May 1, 2004...
When it comes to flipflopping Sen. John Kerry just took a 10 out of 10 in style, performance and substance.
Kerry now admits that weapons of mass destruction may still be found. Oh my, how does he reconcile such statements as: "George Bush sold us on going to war with Iraq based on the threat of weapons of mass destruction. But we still haven't found them."
He has frequently stated that, "We were misled about weapons of mass destruction." But this week in an interview with Chris Matthews, ABCs Hardball, Kerry offered this statement regarding WMDs:
KERRY: It appears, as they peel away the weapons of mass destruction issueand we may yet find them, Chris. Look, I want to make it clear. Who knows if a month from now, three months from now, you find some weapons? You may.

Was having a few Root Beers at the pub when the local news announced how Kerry was going to be at The National Civil War Museum in Harrisburg. Wow, was this kept a secret or what? Only invited contribution guests were to be admitted.
This was only 8 blocks from where I was. I always have empty sign boards in my car so I rushed out to the parking lot and made one. It said, Who Authorized Your First Purple Heart? Your Commanding Officer at the time said he Did NOT. The other side said Welcome Flip Flop Kerry, Release your 201 Files Sorry, no pictures. This just happened so fast.
I arrived at the site and found the entrance and asked the Harrisburg Police where I could protest. They read the sign and put me in the best spot possible for Kerry to read when he came in. The Harrisburg Police were wonderful. (I would love to say more about their comments, but I wont.)
It all happened so quickly. I was the only one there until 2 minutes before Kerry arrived. I was joined by 3 people from the Pennsylvania State Republican Committee. Two had signs that you couldnt read. Someone has to teach them how to make a visible sign. But the third person was a gem. A person was dressed up in full costume in a Flipper suit.
I got flipped many times by cars entering and several F words. Funny how these people sear a lot. Then the motorcade came. Watching the vehicles, in about the 7th one, there he was, The French Looking Candidate himself. They were making a left turn and there was a stoppage in his traffic flow. He had a good 4 minutes to look at my sign and Flipper. Yes, I could see him through the glass. He was waving with a cracked window and I hollered, Answer the Question. I continued, And, you want to be the President?.
Even though all three major TV stations passed us by, no one stopped to interview us.
I know this, we Freeped Kerry today real good...
