[history]
A POLITICALLY-charged disaster movie about global warming is burning up the George Bush campaign, while John Kerry backers hope "The Day After Tomorrrow" will sway eco-conscious voters to their side.
The partisan swirl surrounding the $125 million thriller is underscored by Al Gore's decision to hold a huge environmental rally just a few blocks away from the May 24 premiere at the Museum of Natural History.

("Day After Tomorrrow" will sway eco-conscious voters) Yep, just like "The Day After" swayed folks to turn against Reagan's policies and support a "nuclear freeze."
To: presidio9
Recycled scare mongering by the same crowd who brought you
The Day After back when the left was cowering from that eeeeeevil meanie Ronald Reagan and splooging over the virtuous and saintly Mikhail Gorbachev.
They aren't even original enough to think up a new name for their latest lefto-horror propaganda piece.

""Millions of people will be coming out of theaters on Memorial Day weekend asking the question, 'Could this really happen?' "
Yup, then they will get in their SUVs, stop at McDonalds and go home and watch American Idol.

Remember that TV movie back in the 80's - The Day After. I think it was about a massive nuclear war or accident. All I remember was the party I went to called The Night Before The Day After. This must be the sequel.

The following week the National Review commented "The movie was okay, but why did they have to make all the survivors look like Alan Cranston?"
To: presidio9
Oh jeez, like the enviro-nuts weren't already gonna vote foe Kerry... this movie will have zero impact on anything.

This movie will change the discourse on "Global Warming" the same way the last Godzilla movie inspired those fighting nuclear waste.

If anything, this movie should open the eyes of the 'open-minded' moderate crowd that believes that the media is telling the truth about global warming. What a bunch of junk science. Global warming causes an ice age? Just what kind of idiots do the greenies take us for?
Maybe that's too much to hope for. Gore did win the popular vote.
To: presidio9
I thought that the premise behind the movie was that the changes in the weather were caused by the Earth's magnetic poles shifting.....global warming was never mentioned in the reviews that I've read.
Also, someone should explain Archimede's (sp?) principle to those that think melting of the polar ice caps will cause sea level to rise dramatically.

Hilarious. Just shows where the elite's heads are these days!
East coast has been freezing but LA is hot hot hot.
That's all the proof the left needs. LA is the center of the globe in their mind.

And then 3 days later it all freezes again? Where'd all the heat go.

There is a Science Fiction Novel by Robert A. Heinlein that is entitled "The Day After Tomorrow". This novel has nothing at all to do with the movie. I wonder if the movie title was cleared for copyright before being used.

Well, since Jake Gyllenhaal is in this movie, it gives me an excuse to post a picture of his very pretty (but unusually dim bulb) sister, Maggie.
