Which is too bad, I think, because the core issue of how much influence the government has in private lives is an important one to raise and consider, and certainly worth arguing about. I agree with you, though. One would think Ashcroft would have bigger fish to fry than going after dirty pictures, what with anti-American sedition running rampant, a war for the very survival of Western civilization going on, a nerver-ending tsunami of Third World criminals washing over our borders, as well as the "everyday" pursuits of government. You now, murder, kidnappings, smuggling, etc.

This is exactly how the Religious Right shoots the Conservative coalition in the foot EVERY SINGLE TIME - with witch hunts against SINNNNN-ah and VICE-ah. In other words, the attempts to hijack the coercive power of the State in order to enforce the dictates of religious dogma.

These porno-pogroms accomplish nothing but give uncommitted swing voters a reason to vote for John F'in sKerry. Do these appointed Federal bureaucrats honestly think that the Religious Right will jump ship to the travelling freakshow that is the modern Democratic Party if the gub'mint doesn't assume the role of Porno Police? This is like asking me if I'm going to dump the President in favor of John "I Cannot Tell A Truth" Kerry because of the President's inaction on enforcing our immigration laws.

There is no way I would do that, and the Christian Coalition will vote for Republicans as well. Unless the President does something stupid like sacrifice a goat at a press conference. (Which would probably swing a few Democratic whack-jobs his way.)

Sorry about the length of this rant, but this is a problem I've had for quite some time in working with the Religious Right to defeat the treasonous, authoritarian, politically correct, gun-grabbing, liberty-hating Socialist FILTH that plague our Republic.
