Morford: Is Your Porn Safe?
San Francisco Chronicle ^

Can you hear the outcry? Can you feel the snippy puritanical heat?
Can you feel John Ashcroft's hot, predatory breath bearing down on your life and your box of vibrators and your adult DVD collection and snatching away your copy of "Weapons of A-- Destruction #2" and smacking you across the face with a Bible, all before skipping off to the dungeon to feed the flying monkeys?
Because while 9/11 and the process of gleefully decimating your civil liberties via the USA Patriot Act may have delayed him a few years, Ashcroft & Co. is back on the anti-porn warpath, hell-bent on slashing and burning its way through the porn industry like a priest through an all-male boarding school -- oh wait, bad analogy -- like a hot knife through butter -- nope, not that, either -- like a Halliburton exec through Baghdad -- there, that's more like it -- as the U.S. Justice Department sets its sights on punishing the sex industry and eradicating porn and making the world safe for uptight danceless ultra-pious nondrinking white men once and for all.

They ever find out why she was gone for so long? Can it take that much time to troll the area high schools?

 danceless
true enough, I confess
ultra-pious
I doubt any of my fellow parishioners would describe me as such.
Unless "ultra-pious" = "goes to church on Sunday". But it's an Episcopal church.
nondrinking
HAH! Hardly.
white
I'm so white I'm pink.
men
And a breeder, to boot.
once and for all.
I don't need the elimination of all copies of "Weapons of Ass Destruction" to save or protect me. Seems to me that the people most at risk are those either making those movies, or emulating the actors in them (I would guess that there are no actresses in them ...).

Ahhh, that's right. Did it take that long to get a warrant to search Richard Gere's house?

Skip the link as the title and where the article originated is enough for me to figure it out.

Adult porn will be with us no matter what the Patriot Act or other laws may say as liberal judges are embedded within the US judiciary to the Nth degree. Those judges will look at the Constitution and find a right to it somewhere, possibly from a stain mark on the edge of the document.

Gerbilwinks was not a porn actor. He was an adventurer stuck in a inhospitable land.

Probably a complete exaggeration and misstatement of the facts. As far as I know, the Justice dept only seeks to track child porn and keep R and X-rated material off the public airwaves.

Actually, when the officer showed up in uniform to search Gere's house, Richard thought he was somebody else and let him right in.

This writer is inflamatory, no doubt about it, and that's too bad because his core concern is completely above board and not the stuff of whacko America haters. His language and style though detract from that message.

The national justice apparatus, meaning the DOJ, the FBI, any and all federal investigating and prosecuting agencies, really SHOULD spend more time on collaring child molesters, terrorists, and drug kingpins than trying to clean up (no pun intended) mainstream (ie, legal) porn. I mean seriously guys, let's reconsider our priorities here. Osama is running around issuing fatwas but Tommy Chong is in jail?!

Look, if people don't like porn they don't have to buy it or watch it. But if there are no illegal acts in a particular film or on a particular site, people in this FREE country should be free to view it or not as they choose. Which is a completely differrent issue from whether you personally WANT to see it. I mean, if someone doesn't dig porn, that person shouldn't go to porn sites or buy porn mags or movies.

Does anyone on this board really need, or want, a federal agency to tell you what media you're allowed to buy, watch, or listen to?
