My apologies if a thread already exists. I did a search on "Toomey" and found nothing.
I arrived at my polling area (suburban Philadelphia) at 6:45 am to hand out palm cards. The weather is terrific this morning, but turnout (I thought) was light (I had to leave at 9:15, but will be back).
Actually, I have a good feeling about Pat.

yep. you'd think a bush endorsement would be good for at least a percentage point or two. Why couldn't he just stay the hell out, as he did with the NJ race and VA gov race in 2002?

Must remember that Allegheny includes Pittsburgh, unlike Phila. County which is all Philly.
Only 7,000 votes cast in Pittsburgh, and Toomey won those w/ 52%.

That's why I said Spector would win.
W/O Bush and Rick ,Spector would have lost by 4%

Tell me about it! I had to vote there tonight (moved since 2000 elections; now in Butler Co.). I voted in the Wexford area..Still, I am really knocked back on my heels on that, with all the seniors; whoulda thunk it?

"The Dem candidate only has about half of the Spectre/Toomey total. A preview of November turnout?"
Actually, Specter, the unions and even the Guardian sent out a cry to all Democrats to switch party registration to Republican and vote for Specter. My guess is the reason the Dem turnout was so low is because a lot of the Dems just voted for Specter.
With the race this close, I think it can safely be assumed that were it not for the requested infiltration, Toomey would be wiping the floor with Specter right now.

If Specter wins, that will be the dem.
To: Petronski
According to PCNlive Toomeys people are guardedly optimistic and they think its at the least one more hour of counting.

From what I can tell my county (Westmorland) is still out. This is a fairly large county east of Allegheny (Pittsburgh). It appears that Western PA has gone for Toomey. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Our poll watchers explained that if voters did not have ID and they did not recognize them that they would have to use a separate ballot that would take days to certify. This is part of the new law to weed out vote fraud. I don't think it is going to be over tonight.
