My apologies if a thread already exists. I did a search on "Toomey" and found nothing.
I arrived at my polling area (suburban Philadelphia) at 6:45 am to hand out palm cards. The weather is terrific this morning, but turnout (I thought) was light (I had to leave at 9:15, but will be back).
Actually, I have a good feeling about Pat.

What a laugh...I gave up on intelligent debate around here months ago. Is that you Sean? Hey we arn't all right fringe zealots. I live in Madison WI and I understand that you take moderates over liberals. The rational FReepers are here they just get tired of arguing with the "I shoot abortion doctors to prove I'm pro-life crowd." We are the silent majority at FR. Don't let the wack jobs scare you off.

It is too bad that the voters of Pen. didn't realize they should vote that guy out of office, but they didn't. It was their choice.

If Bush is smart, he will USE Specter to help cajole the other scumbags - - Chafee, Snowe, Collins Absolutely! The more RINOs the party has, the easier it is to get stuff passed. If Specter won't vote for it, go to the next RINO. The trouble happens when the RINOs are replaced with 'rats who we can't bribe. When that happens taxcuts and partial birth abortion bans fail.

The younger Shuster has only been in Congress since winning a special election in '01.
However, before Shuster Jr. became a congressman he was a used car dealer.

LOL. That sure sounds like a winning strategy to me. LOL. That didn't come out exactly the way I meant it to sound. English is a second language for me. I went to public schools.

I think they want Specter because, win or lode in November, they have a Senator who helps them get what they want.

Other than "far right fringe", what else comes to mind when you think of conservatives?

"Now, Bush has to show me something new to get my vote. He has to earn it."
Given the stress you put on the abortion issue, I guess the Partial Birth Abortion ban and the Unborn Victims of Violence Act, both of which make the overturning of Roe v. Wade about 10,000x more logistically possible from a legal standpoint than they were in 2000, didn't earn a darn thing with you?
Are you going to tell me that you even -dreamed- that we would have made that much progress in 4 years in 2000? The two single biggest victories for the pro-life movement since 1973?

You know as well as I that the PBA and UBVA are appetizers, and the main course is a rollback -but not necessarily a reversal- of Roe v. Wade.
However, nothing is likely to happen on Roe v. Wade in our lifetimes because we can't get a filibuster-proof majority in the senate to confirm pro-life judges, and the pusillanimous senate Republicans refuse to use the so-called nuclear option.
