Leftists Revile Tillman, 'Dumb Jock Killed in Afghanistan'

If anyone still doubts the America-hating bent of the far left, this item is for you.

Something that calls itself Independent Media Center, which OpinionJournal.com's James Taranto calls "one of the most virulent Angry Left Web sites around," has hit rock bottom. Its branch in P.C.-crazed Portland, Ore., has a page devoted to the death in combat of Pat Tillman, which it summarizes as "Dumb Jock Killed in Afghanistan."

Among the comments posted by those "tolerant liberals":

• "Tillman chose to go to Afghanistan. He's partially reponsible for the deaths of hundreds, maybe thousands of Afghan civilians. No need to feel sorry for him, other than feeling bad that he was brainwashed into serving as a grunt."

• "it's amazing the kind of attention this insignificant incident is going to cause. well, he was rich, white, and an american. 10,000 (brown) iraqis get killed, and it barely merits a mention in the american news. how utterly f---ing sad."

• "if he 'sacrificed' anything it was his common sense. He had a good American thing going and blew it." Are these the same leftists who ridiculed war hero Bob Dole in favor of draft dodger Bill Clinton but say John Kerry's four-month stint in Vietnam was so great?

Taranto noted that a few posters dared to disagree with the party line. One wrote: "Brave American sacrifices friends, family and fortune in defense of his country. Pigs on IndyMedia can now continue to exercise free speech, sacrifice nothing and spew hate."

Thank goodness that most of us get what patriotism is and honor those who choose to defend us.

Interesting people. They see what true honor, courage, and commitment look like, writ large in Patrick Tillman, and realize that, no matter how "cool" they think they are, they are not fit to shine the boots of such a man.

Rather than admit the TRUTH; that they enjoy their easy, passive lives and comfort too much to go through the rigors of military life; and that they are too cowardly to do their duty to their country, they instead attack those that do.

They call them "brainwashed" or "dumb jocks" and resort to the old "baby killer" slurs, in the hopes that THEY'LL look like the "sophisticated", "SMART" ones. They'll scream about "unjust wars" or some other nonsense, and later claim that THEY were the "courageous, principled" ones for NOT serving.

Those who dodged the draft in the Vietnam conflict acted much the same way.

I have met many people who avoided service in that war, but who later regretted it deeply, and strove to make up for it. They at least admitted, honestly, why they did not. I at least respect them for that.

Dogs like these deserve NO ONE's respect, only scorn.

We white men are eeevil. That's why the Left hates Pat Tillman. To the rest of us he is a hero. To the pre 9/11 folks, he's a murdering ugly American who deserved what he got. I thank God the country is different since that day in September three years ago and we thank our lucky stars as Americans that there still those who answer the call of our country and give their lives, honor, and sacred duty to defend her. Tillman is the embodiment of the Lee Greenwood American immortalized in "God Bless The USA."

This is really sickening. He was a brave man, serving according to the Lights God gave him. While I believe that we have lost our way in post-war Iraq, I have only the highest respect for men like Tillman. The tragedy is that they are irreplaceable. His death in Afghanistan is a loss for all real Americans.

It’s amazing that Liberal Hate Speech, or pornography is always given a pass by claiming its “the backbone of journalism: The First Amendment.” Your nothing but a bunch of hypocrites, for you would not dare print an article that praises God or Jesus, that talks out about Abortion, or goes against the Gay agenda.

It is obvious you only wrote an article against the Gonzalez article because of the flood of Americanism you faced. The real question is why have our colleges fallen so far, have become so un-American, are so filled with hate against this country that Gonzalez’s would even consider writing such an article. Could it be that 99.9% of all professors are Liberal Democrats who think Communism is really a great idea? That students are unrealistic taught to see everything in the world as moral equivalent where ever view is equal, for example like PETA saying killing chickens is the same as killing Jews. Could then one not say killing baby seals is the same as late term abortion? Could it be that students are taught that Sex and the do it if it feels good should be idealized and morality, faith in God, and personal character are things to be distained?

If you and your paper REALLY believe in the First Amendment, then you would give as much time and column space to Conservatives and Christians who still believe in this country, and you would realize that Gonzalez’s article was pornography and should never have been printed, for it goes it is nothing but un-American Hate speech and should not be accepted in a moral country.
