"I will never cower before any master nor bend to any threat"

Two Chinese diplomats, away from their Los Angeles consulate improperly, recently sped their vehicle past a Los Alamos National Laboratory guard post near classified facilities in what U.S. officials think was an intelligence mission, The Washington Times has learned.

"Face it, we're doomed."

"We're dealing with sheep, here."

Do what you can. Just stay focused on the Good Shepherd! Take orders from Him even if they have to be *in pectore*. We aren't doomed but there's going to be one heck of a galvanization.

News related to Ships....

Ship carrying LPG in distress off the coast of Viet Nam 04/28/2004 -- 11:20(GMT+7)

Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Apr. 28 (VNA)-A ship under the Mongolia flag carrying 788 tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas was almost sunk off the coast of the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau on Monday.

The ship, named Ben Luc, was on the way from Thailand to Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

Fortunately, the 11-member crew was rescued by local fishermen and 788-tonnes of LPG blocked in the ship. However, part of the cabin caught fire.

A tug-boat and a diver squad have been deployed to salvage the distressed ship. –Enditem Link

This story sound benign, but I thought there could be a possiblity they could try to disrupt cargo shipping lanes.

Ship Gets Stuck Near Saugerties

04/28/2004 SAUGERTIES, NY - A 600-foot freighter hauling salt ran aground in a muddy area of the Hudson River early Tuesday morning but did not impede traffic on the river, according to a U.S. Coast Guard spokesman.

The bulk carrier Amber K ran aground near Saugerties at navigation marker "light 96" at about 8:45 a.m., Coast Guard spokesman Dave French said Tuesday evening. He said the vessel was not in a navigable channel and was not impeding river traffic. The carrier was still stuck as of 5:30 p.m....

French said it could take the investigator several days to determine how the Amber K got stuck.

Flash Fire on Cargo Ship at Port Canaveral Injures 4

PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. - Four people are recovering this morning after a flash fire aboard a cargo ship late Tuesday.

Details on the accident are limited. The fire occurred shortly after 8:30 p.m. aboard a cargo ship on the south side of the port, said Rosalind Postell, Port Canaveral spokeswoman.

The ship typically carries rolls of newsprint, but had been unloaded on Saturday night and was empty at the time of the fire, said Rob Townsend, a spokesman for Mid-Florida Freezer Warehouses at Port Canaveral.....

Postell said the crew members were being held for observation and should be released by Thursday.

Police have not specified which ship the accident occurred on. The U.S. Coast Guard is investigating the fire.

Part of the newsprint that had been aboard the cargo ship is used by FLORIDA TODAY and its weekly products, according to Terri Whitehead, administrative assistant for FLORIDA TODAY's production department.

The newsprint came from Corner Brook Pulp and Paper, a mill in Canada, but neither Postell nor Townsend would reveal the ship's owner. Link

Medical Services Gets Request to Ship Dengue Fever Kits to Hong Kong

EDMONTON, Alberta, April 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Medical Services International Inc. (Pinksheets: MSITF) wishes to announce that it has been requested to ship VScan Dengue Fever test kits to Hong Kong immediately. According to our Hong Kong distributor there has been an unexpected outbreak of Dengue Fever in Hong Kong. Public service announcements currently being broadcast in Hong Kong are describing the symptoms of Dengue Fever and if individuals are experiencing these symptoms they are to see their doctor immediately.

The current problem is that the laboratories are taking 2 to 3 weeks to get test results. The key to full recovery from Dengue Fever is immediate fluid replacement therapy. With a delay in diagnosis, fluid replacement therapy is administered too late and the individual can be severely incapacitated or die. Standard recovery time for the mildest form of Dengue Fever without any treatment is 3 to 4 months.

With the VScan Dengue Fever test kit the detection of the Dengue Fever Virus is within 20 minutes and treatment can start immediately.

Early detection means that if necessary, fluid replacement therapy can be used to prevent the collapse of the circulatory system and resulting in the affects of Dengue Fever being minimal. Link

China Hit by Measles Outbreak

BEIJING: A potentially-lethal measles outbreak has infected at least 300 children in the Chinese province of Sichuan, where crowded rural schools make disease control a problem, local officials said Tuesday.

"Nearly 300 people have been infected by measles ...," said a Sichuan Health Bureau official surnamed Xiao, the China Daily reported.

The official acknowledged that the reporting system was not good and more people could be infected.

"Countryside areas are suffering from bad quarantine conditions and many schools are rather crowded," he said, explaining why the disease, characterised by rash, fever and coughing, had spread.

China is on high alert for infectious diseases following a new outbreak of the respiratory disease SARS.

In many rural Chinese schools, there are around 70 students to a class, often in tiny rooms, providing a breeding ground for disease. Many children in China do not have access to vaccines.

Measles is a viral disease passed between humans through physical contact or through respiratory droplets. It first infects the respiratory tract before showing itself as spots in the skin and a fever. Link

If there are still followers of Islam that wish to follow a religion of peace, then it is time for them to stand up and be counted. If, as they claim, Islam is being hijacked, then they need to stand up and speak for themselves, or support someone who will.

Right now, Bin Laden and Company are speaking for all of Islam by default.

Those who do not agree with Bin Laden are allowing him to speak for them by default.

Their silence is their acquiesence to his ideology.

It's time for the "peaceful majority" to take a stand, and make a choice.

Where are the Muslims calling in to talk shows complaining about Bin Laden? The only ones I hear calling in are complaining that they are being stereotyped and profiled - and they throw out buzz-words like "religion of peace" and "just living life" and "nonviolent".

But where is the condemnation of Bin Laden?

When the sexual abuse scandal broke in the Catholic church, the Catholics demanded justice - they started cleaning house from the inside out.

There are a million topics that people will take to the street and protest about, making their disagreement known about a policy which they find objectionable.

To the kinder and gentler Muslims out there: YOUR SILENCE IS DEAFENING! You would be surprised at how much information that silence is conveying!

News related to North Korea Train Explosion....

S.Korean Ship Sails with Aid as North Demands More

Wed Apr 28, 2004 04:06 AM ET By Paul Eckert and Lim Jong-nam

SEOUL (Reuters) - A South Korean ship loaded with instant noodles sailed North on Wednesday to help victims of last week's train blast, as Seoul moved to meet Pyongyang's request for building materials and school supplies.

At least 161 people died and 1,300 were injured in Thursday's blast, which the official KCNA news agency said had the force of 100 one-ton bombs and caused "horrible" damage in a 2.5-mile radius in Ryongchon on the Chinese border.

"(The) strong explosion left many inhabitants blind and deaf," it said. Children are among the injured, aid workers say.

Aid from China and Russia has reached North Korea by land and air, and many other countries have offered help. More is on the way from Japan and the World Health Organization. The United Nations appealed urgently on Tuesday for 1,000 tons of food.

A spokesman for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies said in Beijing that global relief agencies had met emergency needs for medical supplies at Ryongchon, but that authorities were having difficulty sheltering those made homeless by the blast. "There is evidence that some people are, what we feared very early on, back on the streets," said Red Cross spokesman John Sparrow. "They've got tarpaulins as shelter."

He said the 479 patients were spread over six hospitals in the disaster area, with their conditions changing rapidly. "Our impression is that perhaps as many as two-thirds of the serious cases involve children," Sparrow said. He said that the Ryongchon crisis was taxing aid groups' supplies in North Korea.

But almost a week after two trains carrying fertilizer and fuel exploded during what KCNA said was careless shunting, South Korea has been unable to get its supplies in by road or air..... Link

Standing ovation for your post!

Not only is the silence deafening, but the radical propaganda may soon be coming to a mailbox near you:

From London area news:

"Leaflets promote Al Qaeda propaganda"

A Borehamwood street was last week targeted by fanatics who posted Al Qaeda propaganda through residents' letterboxes.

The leaflets, delivered to dozens of Manor Way residents, are entitled Sheikh Osama's Message to the People of Europe.

I cannot sympathize with you. Lucky Californian! We have not had it reach 80 since early Sept. of 03. Our winters are getting longer and longer. We are a very pale bunch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We're having a typical Idaho Spring. The temps were in the mid 70's Monday and Tuesday. Last night it dropped into the 40's with 35 MPH winds...gusts to 45+. It just dropped under 40 degrees a few minutes ago. Idaho Falls is getting snow right now. We might get some too. All those pony pack veggies we planted last weekend are probably going to get whacked.

Thank you. This is a pet peeve of mine. They need to get off of the fence and take a stand.

A friend of mine has a saying I love: The only thing you get from sitting on the fence is a butt full of splinters, plus you run the risk of getting shot by people on both sides.

And to think, they initially called ETA out on this attack. Can't get any more of an Al Qaeda connection than this!

DEADLY MADRID TRAIN BOMB SUSPECT TIED TO 9/11 ATTACKS

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

MADRID, Spain — A Moroccan sought in connection with last month’s Madrid train bombings was indicted Wednesday on charges of helping plan the Sept. 11 attacks.

Amer Azizi helped organize a meeting in northeast Spain in July 2001 that key plotters in the U.S. attacks, including suspect suicide pilot Mohamed Atta, used to finalize details, Judge Baltasar Garzon said.

They need to get off of the fence and take a stand.

But they haven't and they won't. How many Muslims have you heard on radio or TV since 9/11 condemning terrorist activities??

Interestingly, Greta asked Mansoor that very question last night on her program. Mansoor hemmed and hedged and mumbled, "well, they're afraid of speaking out against their own" (not an exact quote but certainly the gist)

As has been said many times on this thread, silence is acceptance.
