Ukrainian security busts caesium dealers
UAN Staff Writer
Ukraine, 06 May 2004
Ukraine's Security Service, the SBU, has busted a criminal ring in Sevastopol dealing in radioactive substances. Three men have been arrested and the suppliers to the ring have also been discovered.
The criminals were caught red-handed selling caesium-137 in a 6-month long sting operation. The SBU seized two containers of the radioactive substance with a street value of 120,000 USD.
Legal proceedings have begun

Some steel operations shut down after radioactive dust detected
Associated Press
CANTON, Ohio - Radioactive metal dust detected in a truck leaving a Timken Co. steel plant forced the temporary shutdown of some operations pending cleanup.
There was no evidence of exposure to workers or any public health hazard, said Jay Carey, director of public affairs for the Ohio Department of Health.
Timken Steel Group President W.J. Timken Jr. said sensors detected cesium-137 in a load of hazardous waste as it was leaving the Faircrest plant in nearby Perry Township on Tuesday.
Cesium-137 is used in gauges to measure leveling, moisture density and thickness of sheet metal and other products and also is used in medical therapy to treat cancer.
The material will be disposed of later, said Timken spokesman Jason H. Saragian.
The cleanup may take two to three weeks, Timken said, and scrap melting operations will be shut down temporarily.
The company is trying to determine where the cesium-137 originated, Timken said. "Our current view is that it came in through one of our scrap suppliers in the form of demolition scrap," he said.

The first thing that came to mind, also, were the FBI files, but, ...adjusting my tinfoil hat,...do you suppose these pictures are the surprise PIAPS was talking about?

Latest I've read on SARs...airborne!The article indicates the virus is carried by water droplets that were picked up from infected material in the bathroom and distributed by the bathroom exhaust fan.
This raises questions about handling of infected patients. Can coughing and sneezing spread the virus. Could infected water sprayed in an agricultural setting provide a vector similar to the bathroom exhaust fan? It's going to be a very interesting epidemiology study.

Timken makes the bearings for the railcars on my current project. The radioactive sources are necessary to inspect for defects in a bearing that will support 110,000 tons of coal. Failure and poor quality is not acceptable.

No, not these pictures. Whatever she's hinting about has to come out so close to the election that there's no way to recover from it in time.

Just started catching up.
Re- Ukraine...I wonder if this has anything to do with those 2 Ukrainean pilots who died suddenly after delivering their cargo.
Remember that story from several months ago? Someone "higher up" and paid the workers NOT to examine the cargo.
Possible dot?
