An Arkansas soldier stationed at Camp Cooke in Iraq died Saturday after sustaining injuries in an early morning attack.
Chief Warrant Officer Patrick Kordsmeier, 49, served in the Army for 25 years. He was up for retirement right before the U.S-led invasion into Iraq but asked for an extension, his family said.
Details of the attack are sketchy, but military officials confirm Camp Cooke was hit by rockets Saturday Morning.
Camp Cooke is the base for Arkansas` 39th Infantry Brigade.
Funeral arrangements are pending.

Prayers for your entire family, and a special thanks you to your brother in law for fighting a war over there so it may never have to be fought here.
God bless all of our troops and keep them safely in Your loving hands.

We pray for the safe return of our soldiers and their happy reunion with their loved ones, yet news of another soldier having been killed while serving our nation continues to tear at our hearts.
May God bless the hearts of those of you who have lost a family member in the military, and may He comfort you in the hard times that you will be sure to be facing ahead.
Please know that you have our gratitude for their ultimate sacrifice in the performance of their duties under our flag.

I continue to be deeply moved by all these expressions of prayer and support for Patrick and our family. Thank you all again.
Our thoughts are with the families of Capt. Felder, Sgt. Brandon, Sgt. Orton, Spc. Melton, those who have been wounded and those who carry on the fight.
Victory will honor the fallen.
