Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro met with Colonel General Xu Caihou, Head of the General Political Department of Chinas Peoples Liberation Army.
During the meeting both Fidel and Xu agreed that the visit by the Chinese delegation to the island strengthens bilateral relations between both nations, governments and armed forces.
Xu Caihou also met with Cuban Armed Forces Minister, Army General Raul Castro and gave him a friendly message of greetings from Chinese top authorities.
In his meeting with Raul Castro, the Chinese visitor stressed the experience of the Cuba armed institution and the population in their preparation for defense and their building of the socialist society.
Shortly before returning to China, Xu Caihou, who is also member of Chinas Central Military Commission, expressed his impression on the vast culture and knowledge of President Fidel Castro about the world situation.
He also highlighted Fidel Castros knowledge of Chinese history and the strategic vision of both Cuban leaders of the current world circumstances.
The farewell to the Chinese delegation was attended by Corps Army General Sixto Batista, Executive Secretary of the Communist Party National Security and Defense Commission and Division General Jose Carrillo, Head of the Armed Forces Political Department.
Xu Caihou
Xu Caihou, male, 59, Han nationality, a native of Wafangdian, Liaoning Province, was born in June 1943. He joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in April 1971 and the army in August 1963, graduated from the Electronics Engineering Department of Harbin Institute of Military Engineering; with a university education, he holds the military rank as General.
He is now member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, executive deputy director of the General Political Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) and concurrently secretary of the Discipline Inspection Committee of the Central Military Commission and deputy Party secretary of the PLA General Political Department.

Chavez stalling? Shocking and so unexpected.
No - I believe they are well settled in South America and Mexico. They already have facilities at both ends of the Panama Canal, Port of Los Angeles, Long Beach, CA and also on the East Coast.
There are a lot more but there isn't enough time to list them all. Watch out for COSCO - China Ocean Shipping Co which is half owned by the Chinese military.
