"An estimated 60,000 undocumented immigrants graduate from American high schools each year." At $8000 a head thats 480 million dollars right out of the "under funded" public school system.

DREAM Act, which will help thousands of undocumented students who wish to pursue a college education. An estimated 60,000 undocumented immigrants graduate from American high schools each year. Even though many of these graduates have lived in the United States for years and likely had no part in any decision to immigrate illegally, it is very difficult for them to attend college.So.....who's paying for all this, huh? HUH? Harkin himself!????
BTW, I hear those in Washington say there's not enough money for American tax slaves to get relief from their oppressive tax burdens. They'll just have to keep working two jobs to pay their bills.
Unelect Tom Harkin. Do it for your country.

I have NEVER been one to take Tom Harkin's side.
I want to point out that "International Student" fees are considerably higher than In State and Non Resident fees.
It's my understanding this would allow those students who immigrated, illeagally, with the parents to slip under the requirement to pay the International Student fees. Somewhere along the line, I also read that these students would be included in the "Diversity Count", required by the Feds in order for our public universities to receive federal assistance.
When I first read about this legislation, the writer pointed out that there were no scholarships involved. The dream act would only lower the tuition from the International fee to the Resident fee. The person who was quoted in the first article said these students would have to fund themselves or apply/receive scholarships.
This business of granting them citizenship is all NEWS to me. That information was not in previous info I've read on this matter. I have a problem with allowing these students to step in line ahead of those who are attempting to become citizens in the routine manner.

By passing the DREAM Act, we can give new hope to many immigrants who now often face an uncertain future after they graduate from high school.
Barf. How about a "Dream Act" for American workers and citizens??? We dream of not having to subsidize all of that cheap labor!

of undocumented students He means illegal aliens, or criminals breaking our immigration laws, doesnt he?
I guess that the Dream Act would have helpfully paid for the flying lessons of the 9/11 terrorists, seeing how they too were undocumented immigrants.
