As are the other men and woman serving in the War on Terror, Pat Tillman is a hero.

This is sad news, and brought tears to my eyes. He was a great guy, and really loved his country. What an awesome man.

Similar to a statement Charles Barkley made ("I am not a role model.").

You're right, it is Kush field (I forgot) But I still don't think the stadium should be renamed.

You know, if Pat Tillman didn't want to give interviews or say anything about what he was doing, do you think he would want a stadium named after him?

Specialist Pat Tillman marches as he performs the honor of being the guidon bearer during graduation ceremonies Friday morning, Oct. 25, 2002 on Sand Hill at Fort Benning, Ga.

Thanks for the information.

"One PHX council woman got shot it the behind (literally) after that vote!.

Wow! I thought that sort of idiocy only happened in Cincinnati, where no one has fortunately been shot, but they are fighting in the courts because the council enacted a rule that allowed them to ban citizens who used profanities during council meetings from attending the meetings for a month. A lot of the finer citizens spend their time going there to curse at the "Village Idiots" (aka city council).

But what about the other THOUSANDS of young men and women who also gave up the life they were living...
To acknowledge the sacrifice of one is to honor the sacrifice of the multitude

God bless them all

Better than Mike Brown's "pass it or I will move, but I promise to spend money on a better team if you do pass it" missive. Lived here in Hellmouth on the Ohio most of my life, hated the Bengals all my life.

You haven't read all the posts, because you will find many speaking of the sacrifices of all our armed forces and their families.
We post many articles here naming names and mourning their death. When possible we have funeral articles and pictures. If the wounded or dead member of our armed forces is known personally or is a family member of a Freeper the thread is longer.People felt like they knew Tillman and thus the reaction.

My heart bleeds.

In this world of Britney's, BenLo's and Apprentances, this guy turns his back on cash and a Fleer card to do something I wish I would've have followed through with a long time ago.

Both of my nephews are serving now, one in Iraq, and I am so proud that they and Pat did what my grandfather and father did, but what I regret I didn't do.

Heros all.

It's not for him. It's for us. Pat Tillman's sacrifice has brought him more honor than we can ever hope to augment by naming a stadium or a field or a scholarship after him.

But naming that stadium after him will help remind those of us left behind what we owe Pat Tillman, and all those other Pat Tillmans. When we walk into that stadium on Saturdays in the fall and eat our hot dogs, we might remember the price of that privilege is more than the cost of a ticket.

And sadly, I don't see it. Because they weren't "famous football players", I guess. And that's extremely sad in my opinion.

You sure don't "see it" pal.

There are relatively few in our "volunteer" forces that volunteered for purely patriotic motives. Don't get me wrong, God bless 'em all, those fighting, those wounded, or those brought home under the flag.

But, Pat Tillman follows in the very finest tradition of volunteer patriots.

We'll remember what Pat Tillman gave for his country NOT what Simeon Rice did on the football field.

This huge football fan will not watch another minute of the NFL until Simeon Rice enlists in the U.S. military.

I kid you not.

Pardon my Kerry, but Simeon Rice can go f#ck himself.

I will finish for you. We should pull our soldiers out and drop a nice A-Bomb on the entire region. I have no sympathy for women and children. This is how I feel.
