Pat Tillman wanted no special treatment while he was alive. I doubt if he'd want any special treatment in his death. Compare his attitude with whiny Archie Manning and his little boy, Eli. I hope they are especially proud of themselves today.

Prayers on the way. He exemplified what it means to be an American.

I would love to hear a comment on this from Dick Vermeil or Bill Parcells. Somehow I don't think they care much for football at the moment.

Because GOD takes them to a far better place than here...We are the ones that are left here sad and dealing with the ones that corrupt this world...

Tillman was a throwback to the days of WWII when men wanted to go fight. Men of honor Like Jimmy Stewart (pilot), Clark Gable (pilot, the Nazis had a price on his head), Tyrone Power (Marine pilot), Ted Williams (sharpshooter) and Joe DiMaggio (no combat, PT trainer, but somebody has to do the job), who all served in WWII -- and every one of them volunteered. IIRC, Gable even had to use his leverage to get into the Army because of how old he was.
BTW, Jimmy Stewart's stepson was killed in Vietnam. You know he could have gotten out of it if he wanted to.

We need to earn his sacrifice. Truer words have never been written.

FYI--Teddy Ballgame wasn't a sharpshooter, he was a Marine fighter pilot, in both World War II and Korea.
A caller on the Jim Rome show is bringing up an interesting point right now...Tillman had a college degree. Could he not have gone into the Army, gone through OCS along with Airborne and Ranger schools, and served starting as a Second Lieutenant, instead of an enlisted man?
The more I hear about this guy, the more awed I get.

HBO Sports had better stand down at the moment and near future. It's the time for me to think of Pat Tillman in terms of his sacrifice, and not what it fills HBO proramming with.

There was a former Green Beret on Rush's show just now, talking about the media and their coverage -- he literally gave me goose bumps to hear him. Did anyone else hear him?

I've been in tears over this all morning. What a tremendous individual, and exemplary example. A true hero.
(I wonder how many folks started the screenplay this morning.)

Just when you feel you have no more tears, our worst fears are realized. I have been a big football fan,but have been disgusted by the overpaid,so called star athletes, and have less enthusiasm for the game because of these spoiled brats. I was very proud of Pat Tillman when he announced his decision, and believe that if he could have come back to football,he might have made a difference. He had more class and courage in one finger than all the high paid, low standard NFL elite have in all their bodies combined. I just spent two hours in my yard beating the hell out of leaves, moss, and dead tree branches, with a broken toe,and rheumatoid arthritis, but I feel better now,and the tears and sweat roll down the face the same. Prayers and thanks to his family for giving us such a man(hero). I feel the same about all the other families that lost their family members fighting for our freedom.

Trolling liberal boards, I see that the libs are already blaming President Bush. They belong in hell. The 9th circle of hell. And even there, the fires won't be hot enough.

Teddy Ballgame wasn't a sharpshooter, he was a Marine fighter pilot, in both World War II and Korea. You're right, I'm mixing people up. Four out of five's not bad though.
I'm sure Tillman could have gone officer if he wanted to.
To: CDHart; Ragtime Cowgirl; Jeff Head
I heard him. He's right. The media "just don't get it" Good call.
Rags and Jeff, thanks for the ping. My heart is breaking and my eyes won't stop tearing up. (I had to close my office door) My prayers for the Tillman family and for all those families whose loved ones aren't so well known to the public.
My nerves are a little frazzled today, so I hope I don't have to listen to any of those Jacka$$ democrats. I will have to stay away from FR because I will be banned for sure.
