I'm beginning to lean towards the "1945" approach myself. I think this method is the only method Islamists will understand; total and ultimate destruction.

My question is, what has happened to mainstream America that allowed this in 45' but won't in 04'? Have people really become this naive or is it just a baseless opinion that's presented to us by the media that believes it?

IMHO, if Bush wins this election cycle, he should pull out, and make the decision that would now be vilified, but throughout history would be seen as the only solution to a World dominated by terrorists. That solution should be nuclear.

If only there were some way to sidestep. To get the conservatives out of the way and set up a direct confrontation between the liberal/elite/corrupt/hedonists and the islamomonsters and have them eat each other up. That would be something to see.

Steyn should get a Pulitzer someday.

He's one of the best writers around.

I guess I should qualify that by saying: a Pulitzer may not even worth anything considering some of the writers who get one.

He will never get a Pulitzer. Those are now reserved for leftists.

This enrage the liberal weanies, but their rage won't last, peace will.

The lefties will just find something else to rage on about.

If it's not one thing, it's another. Their work is never done.

Let them whine. At least we would have peace for a while.

Oh, I know. It's so obviously biased.

Steyn should get something better than a Pulitzer, I should have said!

Nonetheless, the Prime Minister of Canada thought this was an excellent opportunity to demonstrate his deep personal commitment to ‘diversity’. Asked about the Khadrs’ return to Toronto, he said, ‘I believe that once you are a Canadian citizen, you have the right to your own views and to disagree.’

Unless you are a Christian believer in the Bible...

I was speaking with a co-worker the other day, about religion, abortion, the Catholic Church, Bush, etc. He firmly believes that what is beginning to happen now is God's punishment to the United States and Western Nations for embracing the culture of death. This came about when I mentioned that one of the things that scares me is that God not only punishes people for embracing evil but nations also. Did He not allow Israel to be consumed by its enemies because they turned away from Him? The evil is in front of us and gives us plenty of warnings. Steyn quotes the madman that blissfully states that non-believers are not worthy of living. People ignore that. Steyn states the fact that Islam wants to dominate and allows the madmen willing to kill move freely about them, hiding and plotting. I firmly believe that we cannot compromise with thsee people, that they must be thoroughly crushed. Yet, we have people like Kennedy, Hatch, and Specter calling for a Constitutional Amendment so that foreign born people can be elected President. It is very scary out there!

^^^^

It partly is a question of numbers. In WWII every family had members fighting somewhere in the world. By 1944, fathers of 3 children were being drafted (mine), casualties were in the millions, deaths in the hundreds of thousands.

No one was consulted in 45,the bomb was secret until it was used.

There were 295,000 US military deaths in WW2(we were lucky).Trust me..the majority of Americans were just happy for the war to end.The great self examination about dropping the bomb came later.

Suppose a terrorist group detonated a nuke over an American city - killing 200,000 - who do we nuke? Do we take out Pakistan, Iran, and Syria? Medina and Mecca?
