FALLUJAH, Iraq Iraqi security forces fighting alongside Marines in Fallujah are angry, saying they're outgunned by Sunni insurgents and resent being sent to fight fellow Iraqis.
"Eighty percent of us want to leave and go to Baghdad" because they don't want to fight civilians in Fallujah, said Amar Hussein, a medic in the Iraqi Civil Defense Corps.
The 36th ICDC Battalion was supposed to be the elite of the U.S.-trained Iraqi security forces, with members drawn from the militias run by various members of the Governing Council in order to fight insurgents who have been attacking U.S. forces and their Iraqi allies for months.
"We are not a force. We are just guys with AK-47s (assault rifles)," said Numan Jabar, a Kurdish fighter brought into the ICDC. "We must have better weapons, more pay, more training."
Others question the noncombatant death toll reported by witnesses inside Fallujah.
"I feel there are very few terrorists in Fallujah, but because of the way the Americans are treating the civilians, we are creating more and more terrorists every day," said Firaz Munshed, a Shiite in the force.
In the south, police and some ICDC abandoned their stations when faced with attacks by Shiite militiamen; some left out of fear, some out of mixed loyalties.
A battalion of the U.S.-trained Iraqi army refused outright to fight in Fallujah, west of Baghdad. The force came under fire as it left the capital and turned around, saying it did not sign up to fight fellow Iraqis.
The ICDC forces stationed in Fallujah before the fighting have abandoned their posts and U.S. commanders acknowledged that some may be joining the insurgents.

resent being sent to fight fellow Iraqis. Bigots. It's only ok to fight against killers who don't look like you, right?
"Eighty percent of us want to leave and go to Baghdad" because they don't want to fight civilians in Fallujah
Who the hell's asking them to fight "civilians"? Hint: that guy with an RPG launcher ain't no "civilian".
"We are not a force. We are just guys with AK-47s (assault rifles)," said Numan Jabar, a Kurdish fighter brought into the ICDC. "We must have better weapons, more pay, more training."
Why, so you can complain about being asked to use those weapons and that training against "Iraqis"?
"I feel there are very few terrorists in Fallujah, but because of the way the Americans are treating the civilians, we are creating more and more terrorists every day," said Firaz Munshed, a Shiite in the force.
Would be less of a factor if they'd just TURN OVER THE DAMN LYNCHERS.

More bigots.
Seriously, how many times do I have to spell this out: "I won't fight that murderer cuz his skin's like mine" is a BIGOTED statement. If I were a cop and refused to go apprehend a guy who lynched a black person "because he's white and I didn't sign up to fight against fellow whites" I'd be a...BIGOT.
The ICDC forces stationed in Fallujah before the fighting have abandoned their posts and U.S. commanders acknowledged that some may be joining the insurgents.
They have chosen.... poorly.

Sounds like they take after the French. At the first sign of trouble, RUN...
If they want a free and democratic country, they had better learn to fight those who don't want freedom.

A lot of these are the same guys who "melted away" rather than fight for Saddam. The Iraqi regular army was and is a welfare project to buy off some of the thugs. Part of the society from the way they rioted when they were slow in getting their "pay off" some months back.

Some "Security Force". If the Iraqis don't understand the concept of Law and Order, we are in big trouble when we hand them the reigns of government. It's a disaster in the making.

These guys have had a grand total of 6 weeks training (some only 2 weeks) and they've been thrown into the caldron. They're not ready for it. I understand that 50% of the troops have done exceedingly well. That's the group we should draw the new officers from and the police captains. The others will obviously require more training. Those who fight with the other side, should be targeted and disposed of along with the other terrorists.
