Defector Desribes Iran's Massive Intelligence Operation in Iraq
Iranian intelligence has been operating at least 18 covert centers in Iraq, according to a former Iranian official in Tehran's intelligence community.
The defector disclosed the first details on Iran's intelligence presence in Iraq and described efforts to target Shiites deemed as aligned with the United States in a nearly $1 Billion effort to prevent the spread of democracy in that Arab country.

Reports have been fairly consistent over the last several months of approx. $70M/month flowing in with the "religous pilgrims" (aka:Iranian Intelligence Officers) across the Iranian border.
Anyone think that Sadar formented this "uprising" on his own through a groundswell effort. His rise has been orchestrated and paid for by the Iranian government and assisted with logistics, arms, fighters and support from the Baath Party in Syria.

Why is the Administration not taking this to the public? First off, it is not like playing nice with Iran is buying us anything in Iraq. Iran needs to be dealt with sooner or later. From a political standpoint, blaming Iran for what is going on in Iraq is a great move. If Americans turn on the TV, see the casualty reports and think "Iran" this is perfect.

If we did that, we'd probably have to go after Syria as well.

Syria first?

I don't see how a wider war is not inevitable.

Agree. The terrorist KNOW if we are even partially successful in Iraq it puts a to everything they've been saying. When we went into Iraq, it's like a large stone was thrown into a pond, and the ripples are spreading out.
