HAMTRAMCK, Mich. (AP) -- A mosque took another step Tuesday night toward being allowed to send out a call to prayer to Muslims on a loudspeaker.
In a 5-0 vote, the City Council gave its preliminary approval to the Bangladeshi al-Islah mosque to carry the Arabic call to prayer five times a day. The mosque compromised by agreeing not to air the call before 6 a.m. or after 10 p.m.

I think the local Baptist church should mount loudspeakers and broadcast "Onward christian Soldiers" at the same time as the cats are being whipped. You don't understand. This law only allows MUSLIM churches to do this. Next, women will have to start wearing less slutty clothes in public.

"We are not inviting (non-Muslims)," he said. "We are calling our Muslim people, reminding them they are obligated to come to pray."
Non muslims should actively work to remove all of the folks on the city council that allowed this.I would also file a noise complaint five times a day, 365 days a year.

Where is the ACLU? Oh that's right, they only fight for separation of church and state when Christianity is involved! This isn't a separation of church and state issue. The state isn't playing the prayer. This is about a community and it's willingness to listen to the allah worshipers. Things like this happen based on the population of the community.

Mark my words, it won't be long before objecting to this sort of Muslim in-your-face custom will be labeled a "hate crime"! Take it to the bank.
These people are out to conquer, not get along and assimilate with Infidels.

Many years ago (more than I care to say) one of my Air Force assignments was in Iran (yes, before the revolution). We lived 25 miles away from the city and damned if I didn't hear those loudspeakers as if they were right outside my house. Loudspeaker sound has a way of carrying and the people who live in this neighborhood are going to go nuts! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the FIRST step.

The only problem with trying to remove the city council numbers is they don't have the votes, apparently.

Actually it goes after the Torah and the Bible in the Dewey decimal system.

I believe I read that the churches in the city already have a variance / exception to ring their bells. Can you discern the religious doctrine promulgated by the bells? Can you tell whether the bells are on a church, school or civic building? My town has a new clock on city hall. The new bells annoyed the community and were reduced in volume. There is NO question about what religion is being hawked 5 times a day in Arabic over the public address systems.

"Ever the skeptic, I see something very dark going on here."
It's brilliant actually. They know that there is surveillance of all their electronic communications so now they can broadcast codes to the sleeper cells without worrying about electronic tracing that would link individuals. Now all these creatures have to do is be withing earshot of the speaker at certain times of the day to get the daily message. There is no F'N way I would allow this in my town.

Wow, I didn't realize we had slid so far. If these people were to try this in my hometown, my response would be simple.
- Buy or lease the a property across the street from the mosque
- Mount my own bullhorn
- Immediately following the conclusion of each two minute Muslim call to prayer, begin my own two minute broadcast with Bible quotes castigating people about worshipping idols and false gods.
- Finish my broadcast with a reminder that all good Christians should pray for the souls of the lost & Godless.
Hey, freedom of religion buts both ways. If they have the right to broadcast their religious perversion, I have the right to broadcast the fact that they're going to burn in hell for it.

When you mount your bullhorn--you could also quote the scripture where Hagar the concubine was sent away, and remind the heathen that Isaac was the chosen, and Ishmael the rejected.
Could be fun...
Had a thought--do the Muslims get to call the 'faithful' to prayer in Paris?--I don't think so.

I hope you don't mind if I add a few more to your list in the spirit of fun if I lived in the neighborhood:
5. Lease the property across the street and erect a "Hooters" advertising billboard.
6. Invite the local high school and college kids for a 'car wash' for a Bible fund-raising event allowing them to wear,
well you know what summer "dress" is at these car washes.
7. Hang burkas on sticks in the garden to ward off crows.
8. Shoot paintballs in my yard at blown-up photos of Mecca and Medina.
9. Put a pig in the front yard for a few days before we roast it.
10. Invite the muslims to the pig roast in spirit of neighborly love.
11. Play "We Are The Champions" at the same time as the call to prayer, only louder.
12. Carpet the block with Bush/Cheney 2004 signs.

Like you said, Muhammad didnt have a loudspeaker so why do they need one?
Maybe everyone should lay on their car horns five times a day and see how they like it.

With a big sign at the entrance to the city reading Welcome to Hamtramckistan.

Well, you elect a bunch of liberals to your city council and this is what you get. The first thing to do is to get all these weak links out of office.

"We also had to completely reshuffle our religion section so that a copy of the Koran always was at the top shelf, to appease their demands. "I would have given the Koran a very special place in the mens room in case the TP runs out.

As far as the offending loudspeakers go...There are cures for both loudspeakers and Mosques.
It is illegal to discuss them.
