[history]
Beloved actor, humanitarian and New York icon Tony Randall has had a rough winter. He'd already been in the hospital for eight weeks when he celebrated his 83rd birthday on February 26. He's still there now.
Randall went into the hospital on December 21, 2003 for a triple bypass. The operation was successful, but it left Randall with a severe case of pneumonia.

I have a 45 of Jack Klugman (Oscar) singing You're so Vain to Tony Randall (Felix) who sings replies in the song (Example...Klugman: "You had one eye in the mirror As you watched yourself gavotte.
Randall: GAVATTE???? I don't know how to Gavotte!
It's hysterical.

Yes it is great that a man can start a family at 75. WOW. How about a woman at 75 starting a family?
I watched a documentary on TV this weekend, the outrage was that a young man courted an older woman.
I am not impressed with his potency.

I just loved Odd Couple. Those two were hysterical. Does anybody remember a show he did in the 80s called Love, Syndey? He was a gay guy, I think his "parter" died of AIDS and he moved in with a woman and her kids (I think I got the idea of the show right).

I'm sorry he is ill. I'm sorry he started a family when he was too old to see the child through to adulthood.
This is from a September 25, 2003 post about him "WASHINGTON (AP) - Actor Tony Randall has a fantasy: when he dies President Bush and Vice President Cheney show up to pay their respects but they're turned away - because his family knows he didn't like them."
I know it's taboo to speak ill of the dead, so I have to do this quickly, while he's alive. I won't miss him, and I sure won't be showing up at his funeral.

Personally, I think he is irresponsible and self-indulgent for becoming a father at age 75. His 8 year child is enjoying the wonders of daddy's cardiac bypass and ICU related pneumonias. So much for little league practice or dance class. Sure the kid will have plenty of money. But money doesn't buy you a healthy vibrant dad that's there when you need him.

You might consider kicking him whenever he does it to someone els. Heis probably big enough to scare people terribly, and you never know how hard he will bite in the future.
I used to keep huge vari-kennels in the family room for the mastiffs. Whenever someone came over to the house, I kennelled the dogs, and so whenever I was there, nobody got bitten. The kennel is a form of training. They lost their freedom temporarily for bad behavior.
Our current dog is a Belgian Malinois that flunked out of Customs drug dog school. She used to get all alpha whenever people came by, but she finally came to understand that she was kennelled when she misbehaved. Now she greets invited guests, sniffs them, and tries to get them to throw sticks for her.
A couple of my kids best friends decided they knew us, and the dog, well enough to just walk into the house without knocking. They only did it once. She wouldn't let them past the foyer. She barked furiously (with tail wagging), looking back for one of us to come. When I came and spoke to the child, all was OK with the dog, and she happily followed them to the kids's room.

I too, wish Mr. Tony Randall a speedy recovery. As a kid, I loved "The Odd Couple." After all these years, the show is still as funny today as it was then.
Also, I must confess, when these stars I grew up with pass on, it makes me feel old. I hope Mr. Randall lives to be 150.

Despite Tony Randall's political opinions, I still think he is a good guy, but simply misinformed.
When I was a senior in high school, I was sent to a press conference for high school papers to interview Mr. Randall on the release of his movie "Fluffy." He was friendly and gracious to all of us teen newspaper types. He was patient with repetitive questions and was unfailingly polite to all of us.
Fo his courtesy and his patience, I am inclined to give him a pass on his opinions. May God bless him.

triple bypass at 82? Why not?
What a waste of time and money.
It's his money.
Does he think he is going to live forever?
No, he's just trying to prolong his life for a little while longer. Self-preservation is our strongest human instinct.
Give up the ghost and go to your reward, Tony.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
