The article also mentioned that squatters camped beside the church and using it as a toilet are Roma (gypsies).

Welcome to the tolerant world of Islam. I'd refer to them as vermin, but vermin don't *know* what they're doing. These people do know, which makes them lower than whale sh!t.
It's a very small consolation, but from what I can discern, this structure was never a functioning church. It was meant to replace another nearby church (which was very recently destroyed), but remained unfinished since 1999. That matters not to the muslims; they so hate Christianity that they'd rather use the building as a latrine and live outside in shacks made of tarpaper and plastic sheeting - when they could live *inside* the building and use the yard as a latrine.
They hate us with every fiber of their being, and we're supposed to be "tolerant" of them. It's really, really wearing thin.

Actually the Turks didn't care much for the Elbownians either. Elbow land was in a constant state of what might be called criminal anarchy and the Turks weren't unhappy to have the remnants of the Serbs in Kosovo who didn't either immigrate or were expelled in the two mass expulsions of the (I think) 17th century to keep the Elbownians from moseying east. Having the Serbs run the foremost cattle thieves and kidnap for ransom specialists in eastern Europe back to Elbowland would probably warm the cockles of most pasha's hearts.

This is the future of Notre Dame, the cathedral in Strausbourg, and any other monument to Christendom in Western Europe. Go visit Western heritage while you can.

Not exactly "pristine" is it!? :D
Someone had to say it. hehe

My question is: WHERE ARE THE CHRISTIANS? Why are they waiting for the government to lock up and secure their own unfinished church? If they can't kick the Roma off the property due to Albanian authorities WHY DON'T THEY DIG THEM A PROPER LATRINE?
That would seem to be the Christ-like thing to do--help the poor, even when they despise your religion. They shouldn't just bellyache about it, passively waiting on an unresponsive government.
Passivity seems to be the result of socialism. Sorry, I can't feel pity for these Christians who won't work to resolve this situation themselves--with or without the government's action.

Bush does nothing to stop the Moslem Albanians from destroying Kosovo. Every one knows the connection between the KLA, the Moslem Albanian drug traffickers, and Al Qaeda! Bosnia gove Bin Laden an honorary citizenship! BUSH MUST REVERSE THE STUPID CLINTON WAR!

The unclean, Satanic spirit that animates Islam reveals itself here in the disgusting actions of its followers.
We can't even go into Islamic temples for fear of desecrating their holy sites, yet THIS sacrilege occurs? And is tolerated?
God have mercy on the souls of these strange, unclean Muslims, who have been deceived to believe that murder of the innocent and lust for 72 virgins (in the afterlife?) is sanctioned by the one true and Holy God of Israel.

The vast majority of Christian church buildings in Europe are just that, simply buildings and "monuments" to past generations' faith. The church is largely dead in these countries anyway... (France for example has many more committed Moslems than Christians...) so why do we mourn the stone, bricks and morter more than whole generations of native Europeans lined up going to hell?

Even from the article, clearly written by (cultural) Christians to garner sympathy for themselves, and outrage at Muslims, it would appear these poor homeless Roma, CAMPING in a city (who would camp in a city, unless dirt-poor and homeless?) next to an empty, unused, under-construction building, needed a bathroom.
Instead of bellyaching about "sacrilege!" why don't the Christians of that church dig the Roma a latrine....then lock up the church? I can't imagine the government would interfere with that--and its the humane, and Christ-like thing to do.
This "sacrilege" appears to me to be more from neglect and care-lessness from the Christians, than some deviant plot by homeless Roma.
