"Who is Russell Means?"One of the more interesting characters on the American scene. Co-founder of the American Indian Movement (with Dennis Banks)back in the 60's, political activist, supporting actor in movies (The Last of the Mohicans). Means has become a Libertarian of late, and was going to run as such for New Mexico's governorship against Richardson in 02 until ruled ineligible for a felony conviction during his AIM days. Too bad as it would have made for a really interesting race. The felony deal has now been cleared up so he is free to help screw up Daschle's campaign in South Dakota big time. If he really dives in to help Thune, things will get very, very interesting. He is a real loose cannon, but right now firing in generally the right direction.

Candidly, to me, allowing butthole to continue on in the U.S. Senate would be an unbearable embarrassment if I were a SD Freeper. But that's just me...

But Russell Means, who commands a much larger following, has said that a vote for Daschle is a vote for business as usual, and that only means more unemployment, alcoholism, violence, and suicide. Means is backing the Republican. Are you serious? The American Indian Movement guy?

I predict that sometime in late summer, with Kerry going nowhere in the polls, Nader will withdraw and throw support to Kerry. By that time Kerry might be so desperate that he will pick Nader as his running mate in exchange for his support.

How anyone from South Dakota could vote for this liberal POS is beyond me. In the same way Teddy Kennedy and Bobby Bryd get elected .. it's about how much money and pork spending they bring to their states

The assumption most Democrats make is that Nader voters would support Kerry if Nader wasn't running. I don't think that's a reasonable assumption.
Nader voters don't like either major party. Some are diehard commies who consider Kerry too conservative. Some consider the two major parties to be in some sort of unholy alliance.
A Nader vote is a protest vote, and those don't easily transfer to Kerry if Nader drops out.

Why would Nader do that? It runs counter to everything he has said and done to date in this election and in the past election. It would mark a tremendous shift in his m.o.
To: Dog Gone
Yeah, anyone who has decided to vote for Nader this year after what happened in 2000 is a vote that was never available to the 'RATs in the first place.

He probably just promised NOT to investigate the rampant voter fraud that happens on SD Indian reservations.

Casinos... You guys, too, huh? In WA every place an "Indian" hangs his hat is a reservation. Pierce County has just enacted the first all-county (illegal) smoking ban.....
EXCEPT...
In INDIAN Casinos & reservations...
Meanwhile the "affected" businesses here are laying off workers - who are no doubt much relieved that they won't have "2nd hand smoke" to deal with. /sarcasm

I still say SD is in play.

That's true for any state you plug into that website, most of the campaign cash comes from outside the respective Senator's state, particularly states that deem to be a threat of being lost to either party.

Hold up a moment. What kind of cheese-eating surrender-monkey town has the name PIERRE? That speaks very poorly about that particular GOP candidate's priorities right there if he's getting most of his campaign funds from French sympathizers.

"Who is Russell Means?"Ah, how soon we forget!
Russell Means is a good ol' '70's terrorist and murderer; great company for Mr. Thune to be keeping!

As I've put forth on this forum a number of times before, the RNC would be money ahead if it were to build a few thousand timeshare units in South Dakota and fill them with faithful, retired, GOP voters who are not needed in their home states for the months prior and up to the election. It is a page from the RAT playbook, but we've got to counter the dead and fake Indian vote somehow.
