CHRIS WALLACE, HOST, FOX NEWS SUNDAY: Jose Maria Aznar stepped down this week as prime minister of Spain. He was retiring after two terms in office. But his final days were controversial, with his decision to send 1,300 Spanish troops to Iraq and then the brutal terrorist attack of 3/11.

I watched this interview.
We have lost a good ally.
Unlike those who now characterize the Spaniards as cowards or Frenchmen (an obvious oxymoron for sure), It is my belief that the population of Spain has been manipulated into a policy shift that will likely prove disastrous for them. I don't hate them - I pity them.
This should serve as proverb to us all - the war on terror is here, it is real, and it isn't a game for children or imbeciles. If the US allows skerry to become their leader we might last a couple of years, but we will lose everything that we have built!

Aznar was a leader with 'cajones'. He knows the stakes. It's unfortunate that there were too many wobbly people in Spain that have chosen a different route in this serious challenge. It's not going away and wouldn't have even if we stayed with just Afghanistan. It is gathered in the Middle East and we either level it all with a bomb or we make attempts to turn the course and kill those terrorists where they reside and bring about a change.

Of course, they don't want us to level it with a bomb. At least not just yet. We have to bring about a satisfactory, stable government in Iraq that is not a violent regime.

Don't forget that this attack was prepared in November 2002 — November 2002, so way before, months before the conflict, the war in Iraq.

Not only was Aznar a strong ally in the war on terror, he was also very effective in promoting free market economics in Spain. In the last eight years (under Aznar), Spain achieved its highest level of economic success in centuries, and once again became an important economic factor in Spanish America. Unfortunately, I have a feeling that the Socialists will ruin the economy as well as surrendering in the war on terror.
