You may also want to insert a question in this fax, or send another one altogether, demanding to know why Kerry and Kennedy are not required to testify in light that the planes which caused the most damage came from thier airport and prior warings of hijackings/terror threats were dimissed...

My fax to my congressman: Dear Representative xxxxxx;

The 9-11 Commission is rapidly becoming a national disgrace. I resent the political grandstanding some members have taken. For example, this commission which is supposed to seek all info and leave no stone unturned, treated Ms. Condi Rice in a very shameful manner. They would pretend to ask questions while making particularly partisan statements, then tried to stop Ms. Rice from responding with very important info.
I am very ditressed at the apparent conflicts of interest that have arsien. As I recall Henry Kissenger turned down the chairmanship of the commission due to what could be perceived as a conflict of interest. Now we have Ms. Gorelick. First, she accepted the place on the commission while her employeer was representing the Saudi government in cases arising from 9-11. Also, her actions as Deputy Attorney General were actions that the commission should be investigating. She knew when she accepted the place on the commission that there were things she did that could/should fall with in the scope of the commission. She knowingly withheld that information. She also is a contributor to a political candidate that could very well use findings of the commission for political purposes. If there is no conflict of interest here, there sure looks likes one. Resonding to these concerns, chairman Kean suggested abouth the public that "people ought to stay out of our business!"
The commsission is my business. Please see what you can do to address these concerns as my Representative in Washington.

I don't want this commission to reclaim its credibility. Just leave it obviously corrupt, as long as the corruption this obvious!

sent the following to BOTH my Representative and Senator:

As a citizen, I try to keep up on what is going on in my country so that I can be an informed voter. I have been trying to somewhat follow the 9-11 commission and am disturbed by what seems to me to be a conflict of interest. Recently declassified documents indicate that Ms. Jamie Gorelick was involved with, and to an extent responsible for, the policies that led to the failure of intelligence sharing which could have helped prevent the awful attacks on that historic day. Even though we citizens have just been made aware of her involvement, she herself obviously knew of her own role and should have followed Dr. Kissinger's lead and recused herself.

Could you please tell me why she is on the panel instead of in front of it answering questions? Or at the very least, why congress is not insisting that she step down?

I believe that the commission, rather than being the non-partisan fact-finding investigative committee it was sold to the American people as has become a witch hunt aimed at our leader, as evidenced again and again throughout the hearings. Two quick examples that come to mind are Senator Bob Kerrey's opening remarks the day Dr. Rice testified for the second time and the cross examination of her by Richard Ben-Veniste.

I thoroughly agree with Congressman DeLay in his open letter to Tom Kean when he stated, "[t]he commission is a creation of Congress. It is accountable to Congress, as Congress is accountable to the American people." I also agree with Rep. DeLay when he told the the New York Post, "the task of the 9/11 Commission is threefold. Task one is to examine and report on facts pertaining to the United States' intelligence and security infrastructure leading up to the 9/11 attacks. Task two is to provide our government with recommendations that will help prevent similar attacks in the future. And task three is to accomplish tasks one and two in a nonpartisan, disinterested manner."

So, I was wondering how do you feel about the issue of the rampant partisanism on the commission and especially Ms. Gorelick's continued presence on said commission and if you were going to do anything about it or if I should perhaps look for another person to represent my views next go-round.

I know you're a busy man. I thank you in advance for your time to read and respond to this e-mail.

sincerely, me
