Fighting around Fallujah a Marine sniper's 'dream'
LA Times via Omaha World-Herald ^ | April 17th, 2004 | Unknown @ LA TIMES

FALLUJAH, Iraq - Taking a short breather Friday, the 21-year-old Marine corporal explained what it was like to practice his lethal skill in the battle for this city.

"It's a sniper's dream," he said. "You can go anywhere, and there are so many ways to fire at the enemy without him knowing where you are."

The role of snipers has become a significant tactic for Marines in this "Sunni Triangle" city. Marine experts say Fallujah is among the most "target-rich" battlefields for snipers since the World War II battle for Stalingrad, during which German and Russian snipers dueled for months.

In negotiations aimed at ending the standoff in the city, the insurgents have demanded that the Marines pull back their snipers.

A shaky truce exists between the Marines who surround the city and the fighters within the circle.

But the cease-fire allows the Marines to carry out defensive operations within the city, which, among other things, they define as allowing fire on insurgents who display weapons, break the curfew or move their forces toward U.S. troops.

Yeah, me too. I'm glad that the Corps didn't fall into the PC trap that the Army fell into.

Great to see them carrying on in the Highest Traditions.

Ended up a great LRRP

Hi. My late husband was in Nam. I remember him saying he was a LRRP, but I don't remember what LRRP stands for. Can you tell me? I'd like to remind our son what his father did.

My husband was a small town boy from the Midwest who had been shooting since he was 11 or 12. He said he ranked very high in his shooting tests.

"You have sworn to heal humans.
Not to wish their killing."

If you are in the United States Marine Corps you are FIRST an infantryman, no matter what your MOS happens to be.
A Marine's job is to kill the enemy of our country, and, as the Germans found out, they do that quite well.

Learn WHAT?

Learn that if we roll over and play dead that no more planes will crash into our buildings and kill 3000 of our people?
Learn that if we pacify the terrorists that we won't get blown up by a suicide bomber?
Learn that if we pander to terror we can be as safe as the French?

You were on thin ice, Hun. You just fell through.

The ovens didn`t burn in Germany... they burnt abroad.
Auschwitz is in Poland.

Far away from home, in
every case.

Let's put it this way.

If a physician is surprised in his home by three crack-crazed home-invaders intent on tearing him limb from limb and raping his wife and daughters, his traditional oath has absolutely no bearing on his right (nay, his DUTY) to employ his faithful shotgun.

He is saving life in that case and here, as well, though without any direct action on his part. His medical care for our troops means that they will prevent these Quran-crazed loonies from continuing to kill others.

You might as well argue that any physician who treats a law enforcement officer is violating the Hippocratic oath, because said LEO might shoot a burglar.

You're wrong.

Last time I was there, Dachau was still located right smack in the middle of Bavaria.

My friend....

We Germans may have turned to be pacifist... that`s
what you taught us during the last 50 years.
And that`s ok for me.

But we have not forgot how to fight.

And we have learned to ASK what is it good for...
So, please don`t call me a Nazi, ok?

And a Doctor who is praising killings reminds
me of Dr. Mengele.
Sorry, your eduacation.

Human rights are universal.

Good Night,
Hun
