April 17, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - An angry John Kerry yesterday raged that the White House has a "twisted sense of ethics and morality" as he faced new TV ads that accuse him of voting against U.S. troops in Iraq. "They don't think twice about trying to pretend to America that I somehow don't care about the defense of our nation," Kerry said as he stumped in Pittsburgh using an American flag as his backdrop.

Kerry is about to launch a raft of new TV ads about himself, which are likely to highlight his Vietnam War record.

Why, if Kerry is so proud of his Vietnam record, won't he make all of his service records public? What is he afraid of?

"I'm tired of Karl Rove and Dick Cheney and a bunch of people who went out of their way to avoid their chance to serve when they had the chance."

Exccccceeeellllent, as Mr. Burns might say.

Have the #1 man in your campaign stoop to attacking the 2nd and 3rd tier men in the other campaign. Fantastic tactical work!

By which I mean "Wow, how totally clueless".

Highlight his 4 months and out tour. That will be a short highlight. Maybe they will show him being medivacced by a chopper for his fingernail scratch... What a loser.

Sen. Kerry, the "noble statesman" and "highly decorated Vietnam vet" of today, is a Far cry from Kerry, the radical, hippie-like leader of Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW) in the early 1970s.

Soon after Kerry, as a Navy Lieutenant (junior grade) commanding a Swift boat in Vietnam, was awarded the Silver Star, he used an obscure Navy regulation to leave Vietnam and his crew before completing his tour of duty.

After returning home, he quit the Navy early and changed the color of his politics to become a leader of VVAW. Kerry wasted no time organizing opposition in the United States against the efforts of his former buddies still ducking communist bullets back in Vietnam.

Kerry participated in the so-called Winter Soldier Investigation where his fellow protesters accused his fellow GIs of war crimes.

Kerry's betrayal of American prisoners of war, his blatant disrespect for the families of our missing in action, Vietnam veterans, the military, his support for communist Vietnam and his waffling over the issue of use of force in Iraq proves he is a self promoting Chameleon Senator who cannot be relied on to protect the best interests of the United States.

I am convinced they thought that the Republicans would attack hi patriotism. They have not (comments by private citizens on FR don't count). Even noted firebrands in the House like Tom Delay have not done so. In fact, no Republican official has even mentioned his anti-war record...it has come from pundits and radio talk shows.

So Kerry is now having to manufacter these "attacks on his patriotism." If he keeps it up, he is going to make himself look even more foolish and rather paranoid.

And you are quite right...what would we think if President Bush were out attacking Terry McAuliffe?

No one has has attacked his patriotism..(Let me be the first)...I am listening to his "patriotism" remarks and he sounds confused and perhaps drunk. He has trouble getting his lies straight.

Mort Kondrake hates it,everyone hates it on the Fox panel..It is untrue, unfair and outrageous. His voting record is questioned and he cries foul.He drones on like a parody of an old time politician in a 30s movie.

So Kerry is now having to manufacter these "attacks on his patriotism." If he keeps it up, he is going to make himself look even more foolish and rather paranoid.
Bush should use this in the debates. He should say:

"Look, Monsieur Kerry, I did not question your patriotism. I pointed out that you voted against every major weapons system, that you voted for the nuclear freeze and that you voted against the 87 billion. But please notice that I did not point out how you sided with communists in the 1970s, called all US soldiers war criminals and hung out with Jane Fonda.

"Where in my ads have I mentioned any of that?

"It's unfair of you to say that I've accused you of being unpatriotic, because throughout this entire campaign, I haven't said a word about your behavior in the 1970s."

Kerry's Vietnam record also came into question this week from his former commanding officer, who questioned whether Kerry deserved the first of his three Purple Hearts, saying he suffered just a tiny scratch. Kerry says that's wrong.

My brother was in Vietnam, 87th Airborne, and he told me how easy it was to get metals, he came home with a purple heart and bronze star and other ribbons, he gave them to his little nephew to play with, that's how highly he thought of them. He told me that he barely had a scratch for the Purple Heart. That is the way it was.

""I've seen how these people in the White House today, in their twisted sense of ethics and morality..."

First of all, Mr. Kerry forgets that he attemped to get a year's extension from his Draft Board so he could go to Europe to school.

Second, his failure to approve the release of his military records leads me to believe there's something in it he doesn't want people to see.

Third, if anyone has a twisted sense of ethics and morality, it's Kerry. How ethical is it to claim you're for the common man and then own and live in 5-6 mansions, not have any minorities as major players in your campaign team, practice a faith and then not follow the tenets of that faith: Divorce, Annulment, Living in Sin, Belief in Abortion and same-sex marriage. Taking Holy Communion when refusing to following Church law is sacrilegeous. Kerry's the worst kind of sinner whose hypocrisy turns my stomch.

At least the President honored his committment made at the alter and follows the beliefs of his religion religiously, in thought, word and deed.

Kerry got livid after Team Bush went national with an ad that paints Kerry as "wrong on defense" for voting against $87 billion to help rebuild Iraq and buy body armor for U.S. troops - even though he voted for the Iraq war.

He should be mad. The ad tells the truth about his voting record, and exposes him for the waffling fraud he is. But he really has a low tolerance for pain, as usual for a liberal, if this is what he considers a "GOP smear".

Kerry probably cast more votes in the VVAW than he has since he's been running for President.
