I am convinced they thought that the Republicans would attack hi patriotism. They have not (comments by private citizens on FR don't count). Even noted firebrands in the House like Tom Delay have not done so. In fact, no Republican official has even mentioned his anti-war record...it has come from pundits and radio talk shows.

So Kerry is now having to manufacter these "attacks on his patriotism." If he keeps it up, he is going to make himself look even more foolish and rather paranoid.

And you are quite right...what would we think if President Bush were out attacking Terry McAuliffe?

No one has has attacked his patriotism..(Let me be the first)...I am listening to his "patriotism" remarks and he sounds confused and perhaps drunk. He has trouble getting his lies straight.

Mort Kondrake hates it,everyone hates it on the Fox panel..It is untrue, unfair and outrageous. His voting record is questioned and he cries foul.He drones on like a parody of an old time politician in a 30s movie.

Bush should use this in the debates. He should say:

"Look, Monsieur Kerry, I did not question your patriotism. I pointed out that you voted against every major weapons system, that you voted for the nuclear freeze and that you voted against the 87 billion. But please notice that I did not point out how you sided with communists in the 1970s, called all US soldiers war criminals and hung out with Jane Fonda.

"Where in my ads have I mentioned any of that?

"It's unfair of you to say that I've accused you of being unpatriotic, because throughout this entire campaign, I haven't said a word about your behavior in the 1970s."
