“We begin from the term ‘huri,’ for which the Arabic commentators could not find any meaning other than those heavenly virgins. But if one keeps in mind the derivations from Syro-Aramaic, that expression indicated ‘white grapes,’ which is one of the symbolic elements of the Christian paradise, recalled in the Last Supper of Jesus.

This is truly an important interpretation of the Koran from its linguistic origins! Those virgins are, in reality, the grapes that were used to make the wine served at the Last Supper!

Catholic Ping - let me know if you want on/off this list

“In its origin, the Koran is a Syro-Aramaic liturgical book, with hymns and extracts from Scriptures which might have been used in sacred Christian services.

You find a depressing consistency in the discussions and articles - the classic Islamic interpretation of the Koran is certainly wrong but there are violent attempts to stop scholars from questioning the Koran ... for example: But many Muslims find the tone and claims of revisionism offensive. "I think the broader implications of some of the revisionist scholarship is to say that the Koran is not an authentic book, that it was fabricated 150 years later," says Ebrahim Moosa, a professor of religious studies at Duke University, as well as a Muslim cleric whose liberal theological leanings earned him the animosity of fundamentalists in South Africa, which he left after his house was firebombed.

From Craig Winn, author of Prophet of Doom:

"Islam rises and falls on Muhammad. He is the doctrine’s sole prophet, its lone founder, its god’s singular conduit. Yet the picture the Islamic scriptures paint is not flattering. I analyzed the five most holy Islamic books and spent two years studying Muhammad and his message. What I found was bone chilling. The depiction of the prophet by the most revered Muslim sources is horrendous. Nearly every page reveals behavior that is immoral, criminal, and violent. The five oldest and most trusted Islamic sources don’t portray Muhammad as a great and godly man. They reveal that he was a thief, liar, assassin, mass murderer, terrorist, warmonger, and an unrestrained sexual pervert engaged in pedophilia, incest, and rape. He authorized deception, assassinations, torture, slavery, and genocide. He was a pirate, not a prophet. According to the Hadith and the Qur’an, Muhammad and his henchmen plundered their way to power and prosperity. And by putting the Qur’an in chronological order and correlating it with the context of Muhammad’s life as it was reported in the Sira, Sunnah and Hadith, we also find that Allah mirrored his prophet’s character. Muhammad’s god condoned immoral and criminal behavior. Allah boasts about being a terrorist. He claims to have deceived men, to have stolen their property, to have enslaved women and children, to having committed acts of murder, genocide, and sadistic tortures..."

A few years ago, one of his colleagues at the University of Nablus in Palestine, Suliman Bashear, was thrown out of the window by his scandalized Muslim students.

Ahhh... the sweet religion of peace in action. I wonder if these scandalized students went on a rape and murder spree to celebrate their victory.

The Koran is a cheap RIP-OFF from Christian, Jewish and Hindu books.

This is not new stuff. It is well known to historians and those doing Christian apologetics as regards Islam. Muhammad as exiled from his own tribe and fled to the Coptic Christians in Ethiopia.

Later he joined the tribes at Medina, of which the largest one (before he executed them all for treason) were Jewish Arabs. For 18 months, Muhammad had his followers bow to Jerusalem - not Mecca.

The Q'uran is a mishmash of Christian and Judaic teaching of the Scripture, with Arab paganism thrown in due to the black stone of the Kaballah in Mecca being such a prominent 'holy site' in Muhammad's time.

The Q'uran is a fraud, pure and simple. Why - because God does not contradict himself, yet the Q'uran is full of indefensible contradictions.

At least this guy is smart enough to head the advice of friends and not use his real name. I bet he would be dead pretty quick if he didn't do so.

A. – “At that time, there were no Arab schools – except, perhaps, for the Christian centers of al-Anbar and al-Hira, in southern Mesopotamia, or what is now Iraq. The Arabs of that region had been Christianized and instructed by Syrian Christians. Their liturgical language was Syro-Aramaic. And this was the vehicle of their culture, and more generally the language of written communication.”

Nope. At the time there were both Christian and Judaic schools in the cities of the Arabian peninsula. These cities were started by them as they lived there since the first century seeking refuge from predations of the Roman and Persian Empires. When these empires were seriously weakened by plague from Africa and no longer needed the Bedouin mercenaries, Muhammed organized them around his new religion. He had first attempted to sell it to the Jews and Christians of the Arabian peninsula but they told him to pound sand. He retooled the gizmo and set about to eradicate their presence and spoliate their possessions.

Sword and Seizure

Muhammad's Epilepsy & Creation of Islam

Abbas Sadeghian

Religious prophet Muhammad suffered from epileptic seizures, according to a book recently released by a Tehran- native and Muslim-raised neuropsychologist. Abbas Sadeghian delivers these findings in the book Sword & Seizure, which is based on historical text, including the Koran. Sadeghian was inspired by a comparable paper he presented in 2001 at New York University's Fielding Institute. He says Muhammad had suffered from "complex partial seizures," which are displayed through "excessive sweating and light trembling, olfactory, auditory and visual hallucinations, epigastric sensations (bad taste), excessive perspiration and hyper-religiosity." He says evidence of these is recounted throughout the Koran.

Abbas Sadeghian, Ph.D has been practicing neuropsychology for nearly 20 years and is a longstanding faculty member at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine.

The muslims are defenestrating people over religious differences. This leaves them only 390 years behind the Christians. There may yet be hope for them.
