DUBAI (Reuters) - Arabic television station Al Jazeera aired Friday a video tape it said was from an unidentified Iraqi guerrilla group, apparently showing a U.S. soldier hostage.
The poor-quality tape showed a white male dressed in military fatigues sitting on the floor surrounded by masked gunmen. One of the men, reading a statement, said their hostage was an American soldier who later on in the tape identified himself as Keith Matthew Maupin.

More at ABC:The tape shows Pfc. Keith M. Maupin, 20, of Batavia, Ohio, surrounded by masked gunmen, identifying himself and saying he is being treated well as a prisoner of war under Islamic law. He said his captors are demanding the release of Islamic soldiers.
Maupin, who is known as Matt, and Sgt. Elmer C. Krause, 40, of Greensboro, N.C., were part of a supply convoy that was traveling on Highway 1 about seven miles west of Baghdad, headed toward Abu Ghraib, when they were attacked by rocket-propelled grenades, mortars and small-arms fire. The fate of Krause is not known.
Both soldiers were assigned to the Army Reserve's 724th Transportation Company, based in Bartonville, Ill. The military official said the parents of both men have been notified of the tape.

Time to bomb Al Jazeera out of Iraq. Every time they show a hostage, especially a US hostage, another one of their offices should be removed from the map of Iraq.

Yet
another al-Jazeera production !
It's bad enough to have Associated Press taking pictures from behind the enemy lines ,but this AJ crap is getting OLD !!
ps: Anyone who thinks al-Jazeera is NOT inciting,facilitating,stage-managing,and co-producing terror in Iraq is probably a fugitive from a "Progressive" website,or otherwise improperly grounded in reality.
Shoot 'em all but six. Save the last 6 for pall bearers !

Missing soldier known for tenacity on football field, classroom
JOHN NOLAN
Associated Press
BATAVIA, Ohio - An Ohio Army reservist missing in Iraq since his convoy was attacked was known in high school for his tenacity on the football field and in the classroom.
"We're pulling for him. He's a fighter," Dan Simmons, athletic director at Glen Este High School, said of Pfc. Keith "Matt" Maupin.
The 20-year-old has been missing since Friday when gunmen used rocket-propelled grenades and other weapons to attack his convoy, the Pentagon said. The attack was one of many during a flare-up of casualties and instability in Iraq in recent weeks.
Maupin, of Batavia, graduated from Glen Este in 2001.
"Matt was a selfless kid on the football field," Simmons said. "He did whatever the coaches told him. He wasn't a starter, but he made the other kids play harder."
Maupin was assigned to the Army Reserves 724th Transportation Company, based in Bartonville, Ill.
He earned scholar athlete awards from his high school and athletic conference for maintaining a 3.5 grade point average during football season as a senior. He played backup tight end and defensive end.
"Matt was a great kid, and he comes from a great family," principal Dennis Ashworth said in a statement. "All of us here - the staff, the students - are extremely concerned about his well being."
Maupin's younger brother, Kent Micah Maupin, is a Marine. He was a wrestler and soccer player and graduated from Glen Este in 2003.
A yellow ribbon was tied to a chain link fence at the bus corral outside the 1,300-student school about 15 miles east of Cincinnati. Nearby, a sign that read "Support Our Soldiers" was stuck into the ground near the school driveway.
There also was a yellow ribbon outside the front door of the one-story, ranch home where Maupin's mother lives about three miles from the high school. Two police officers kept reporters away from the home on Tuesday, and the phone rang busy.
Maupin's mother, Carolyn Maupin, told The Cincinnati Enquirer on Monday that Army representatives had visited her to notify her that her son was missing.
She is a member of the Clermont County Military Support Group, which meets monthly and has organized a care package and letter-writing campaign in support of soldiers in Iraq.
Clermont County Sheriff Tim Rodenberg, an ex-Marine with a son in the Marines doing a second tour in Iraq, said he decided not to contact the family for now out of respect for their privacy.
"I don't know how they can even deal with it - not knowing," Rodenberg said.

A prayer for Keith:
____________________________________________________________
Psalm 23
The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name' sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: For thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies;
Thou annointest my head with oil; My cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever
Amen

Right on. What ever happened to, "You're with us, or you're with the terrorists" or are they actually calling broadcasting ransom demands and executions to cheering Arabs news?
I can only hope the reason their studios haven't been vaporized is that the CIA is getting good information from them.

Prayer Alert!
Batavia should be considered a suburb to the east of Cincy. It is a hotbed of patriotism and conservatism. Our soldiers and veterans are honored area-wide so we can expect an entire region of this state to be consistently praying for this young man, PFC Maupin.
Lord God, we pray for this young soldier and his safety. Give him wisdom and clarity as he relates to his captors. Help him to see that exaggerated words spoken to keep himself alive will be understood by his commanders, his comrades, and his country. Give him the opening he needs while being filmed or recorded to send that clandestine message imperceptible to an enemy but recognized by our intelligence analysts. Above all, Lord, we pray for his spiritual condition. Draw him into a closer relationship with You. In Jesus' name we pray; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.
