First ID Soldiers Find, Destroy Large Weapons Caches

TIKRIT, IRAQ - Task Force Danger soldiers located a weapons cache near Jalula at 9:05 a.m., April 14. Task Force 1st Battalion, 252nd Armor Regiment found 93, 57mm rockets and 10 launch tubes. Soldiers secured the cache site until the cache was later destroyed.

First Infantry Division Soldiers Find Two Weapons Caches

TIKRIT, IRAQ - First Infantry Division soldiers engaged and destroyed a truck west of Samara on April 14 at about 2:54 p.m. Task Force 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, discovered the truck contained 21 120mm rounds, 65 60mm rounds, two 40mm rounds, six RPG rockets, one sniper rifle, and one AK-47. Nearby, they also found a cache of three AK-47s, 25 30-round magazines, one 100-round drum, and one 40-round magazine. They destroyed most of the ammunition and transported the remainder to Forward Operating Base Brassfield-Mora.

Task Force Danger Soldiers Find, Dispose of Weapons Cache

TIKRIT, IRAQ - Task Force Danger soldiers conducted a reconnaissance patrol and located a weapons cache near Kirkuk at noon on April 14. First Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment found 262 33mm anti-aircraft rounds, 26 120mm mortar rounds, 23 mortar fuses, one 122mm artillery round and 10 unidentified rockets. Recovered munitions were transported to a Coalition facility near Kirkuk for disposal.
