The transcript is altogether a remarkable document--not because of anything Lindsey said, but because it shows Ben-Veniste doing everything he could to shut down Giuffra's line of inquiry

But...but..but....Ben-Veniste indicated he values "shaking trees."

Would Ben-Veniste derail an investigation?(/sarcasm)

If Ben-Veniste client Truman Arnold's business dealings with terror flight school owner Wally Hilliard come under scrutiny in the 9/11 probe, the slick Washington lawyer may find himself involved in a major national scandal from two different sides.

I can't believe that this article has gotten so little attention. I was about to repost it, but decided to try to give it a bump, instead. The connection to Gorelick in the obstruction of the campaign finance investigation is striking. What did Ben Veniste know about the wall and when did he know it is the question, now.

Howlin, have you read this article? Sorry if you were already pinged but thought you'd want to see it, if you haven't already.

And the same quality of representation that has elevated Ben-Veniste into the Washington pantheon--one of the Top 50 lawyers in town, in Washingtonian's reckoning--has also left a distasteful trail of ethical flotsam stirred up in the wake of his confrontational style. There are questions about the propriety of his conduct toward those who come up against him--and even toward those on his side. And his representation of Arnold raises questions about his compliance with a tough D.C. bar rule regulating government and private employment.

Yep, we see this and it screams "Disqualification!" for the 9-11 Commission. Wheras for the Dems, it screams the opposite.

Ben-VeNasty could play the part right out of central casting for the Armani $2000 suited, pin-striped, oily, sneering Mob Lawyer wearing the most expensive Gucci tassled wingtips. The fact that is precisely what he is only burnishes his image.

The GOP ought to insert his smarmy visage into every campaign ad from now until November. The Election would be a lock!

Time to link up-for-re-election Tom Daschle to Gorelick and Ben-Veniste - he tapped them for the Commission, so this will look like he is intimately involved with them even if he isn't.

Ben-Veniste was also the lawyer for Barry Seal who ran guns for the CIA from Mena, Arkansas to the Contra's and came back with cocaine.

I will never forget during the Senate Whitewater hearings Senator Al Dimato (R-NY) trying to make the Clinton gang look bad asked a witness something about Mena and Ben Veniste interrupted reminding Dimato that he had been Seal's lawyer and that the GOP might not like the details he knew of Mena to come out. I never saw Dimato shut up so fast in my life.

The real story about Clinton's presidency (shudder) is the Lippo/Riady/Huang connection.

I've known that since the hearings cited in this very article.

Ben Veniste knew it then and did what he was there to do: Block any probing of that whole amazing story.

"But had they been fired, Ben-Veniste and his coauthor note, they were ready: "Actually, copies of all potentially explosive documents had . . . been removed for safekeeping several days before. On the previous Thursday evening, members of the Watergate Task Force had made copies of key prosecution summaries and memoranda and spirited them away." Desperate times evidently require desperate measures, even if what you are doing runs the risk of violating rules governing grand jury secrecy and other prosecutorial conduct."

The Clintons and their cohorts, learned well from Nixon and this "Watergate Task Force", how not to get caught.
