Will you wake up to Islamic prayer call?

A holy war of sorts is heating up in a Detroit suburb, where members of the local Muslim community want loudspeakers on mosques to announce the Islamic call to prayer five times each day.
But the idea is running into opposition from other residents of Hamtramck, Mich., many of whom are Christian, who think the prayer calls as early as 6 a.m. and as late as 10 p.m. would be disruptive.
"When you call to prayer, you are proselytizing, and as a citizen of the United States I don't want to hear it," Bob Golen, 68, told the Detroit Free Press.
"It is not my God. My God is Jesus Christ," Caroline Zarski, 81, said. "I don't want this noise invading my home at 10 p.m."
The Al-Islah Islamic Center asked the city three months ago to alter its noise ordinance to allow the calls to prayer. In February, the council reportedly supported the change but sought a public hearing before making any change.
"We don't want to make it a big deal," said businessman Abdul Algazali, according to the Free Press. "It's a low-pitched voice. It's not going to wake up anybody."
City Council President Karen Majewski compared the call to prayer to bells ringing on Christian churches, though other residents were said to disagree at Tuesday's meeting.
Majewski says the loudspeaker measure is likely to pass at next week's meeting, and would subsequently take effect in late May.
"Petitions have circulated among mainly white and Christian members of the community for weeks asking the council not to amend the ordinance," said Councilman Scott Klein. "Both sides have issued threats of federal lawsuits based on the constitutionality of the ban or the removal of the ban."
There are five mosques in Hamtramck, and three others just over the border in Detroit.
On its website, the city says it provides "A Touch of THE WORLD In America," touting itself as "the home of the most varied ethnic mix of people and customs from around the world."

This has a very simple solution.
Print the prayer schedule on a 3 x 5 card, and distribute it to all the muslims.
Prayer Schedule:
6am - 10am - 2pm - 6pm - 10pm (or whatever)
Reminder: Be on time or the Mullah/Imam will kill you.

Being stationed in Turkey, I hear this all the time. It IS very loud. I don't think the speakers would last very long in the States. Hearing it gets old.
The WORST times to hear it is when a) you are golfing, and b)in the early morning when hung over.

When we were stationed in Saudi Arabia, we kept the air conditioners going full time most of the year. During our first February there, I shut them down and opened the windows. At just about 0445 was "al fajr," the morning call to prayer. From that point on, we kept the ACs running for the next 15 months. It is incredibly annoying.
Commerce comes to a stop at every prayer call. We were at the suq one evening, buying replacement batteries for my son's watch. At the opening "bars" of the prayer call, the Hindu shopkeeper looked at us, shrugged his shoulders, then pulled down the grating; he said he'd see us when "the all-clear" signal came on.

Your idea about the radio is exactly what I was thinking.
The technology is certainly available, and not all that expensive.
Little crystal recievers could be worn around by the "faithful" like a pager to remind them when it's time to squat towards Mecca, without disturbing or annoying any "infidel" who might be about.
Heck; no doubt they could come up with a little battery powered device with all of the appropriate "calls" on a digital chip, set to go off at the appropriate times, wherever they might be. An earpiece would be nice, so as not to impose it on others in the area.
Do you suppose that those loudspeakers are hooked up to a microphone held by an actual Mullah, or a pre-recorded, automated system?
Somehow though, I don't think that the personal, discrete "call to prayer" idea is going to catch on with the cultural diversity crowd; getting right up into the face, ears, or whatever of us "infidels" as much and as often as possible seems to be a big part of what this ROP is all about.
Since they can't kill us all (yet) the best they can do at the moment seems to be to annoy us as much as they can.
The message seems to be; "So what if you don't like it, infidel; You'd damnwell better get used to it!".
They may not be shooting us in our own streets and grenading our Churches and Synagogs... yet... but remember; this is primarily SPIRITUAL warfare at this point, and it IS raging right here in our midst!
And in case any out there have forgotten our marching orders or spiritual tactics... please review the Manual.
As for this backslidden sorry excuse for a Christian - I don't seem to need to hear a church bell or yodel from a minaret to be reminded when it's time to pray.
The "Still, small Voice" of the Holy Spirit seems to suffice, and lately I have found myself in prayer somewhat more than 3 times a day in spite of my general spiritual decadence.
The Civil-War Reenacting Community I am associated with now has 2 Members stationed in Iraq, both of whom are in the Mosul / Falluja area; one is a Shooting Buddy as well, with the Maine National Guard, and the other is a Dear little Sister in Christ who got married and joined the Army immediately after graduating from High School. Her Husband, who enlisted with her and is also a fellow Reenactor, may be headed over any day now.
Monday I visited the local Rifle Range to test some newly acquired weapons and practice up a bit.
In between groups, while going up to mark my target; while reloading a magazine; while policing up my brass...
Prayers for J., and M.P, and M.M.
That Angels mighty and Holy might post vigil over, pickett around them, and keep thir hearts, bodies and minds throughout the dark watches of the night.
Amen.
And I'd almost be willing to bet that any of you who have Friends or Loved Ones over there don't need any blooming loudspeaker to remind you when it's time to pray for them either, do you?
...Didn't think so.
Blessed Be.

How soon before we will have suicide bombers in our own midst? The synagogue here had to hire security guards before holding any services ---- out of fear of the newcomers whose religious goal is to destroy them ---- so much for religious freedom in this country.

There's really a very simple solution to this, that doesn't offend anyone's religious sensibilties: Let them use a low powered radio station to broadcast their call for prayer 5 times a day, with hardwired receivers in every Moslem's house

Now you're talkin' my language! I just had an idea for a timex that starts wailing 6 times a day.

Very soon we will be involved in an all out religious war within the U.S.

I believe it DOES say Yo! Dude! Get Thee To The Mosque!, bbut before that I believe itsays something about "The Is No God But Allah and Mohammed (Pbuh) Is His Messenger!", and I think you'd have to call that proseletyzing.
Also, I'm not sure you have to get to the mosque when you hear it, I think it's ok to point toward Mecca and drop and stick your butt in the air, face on the floor.

The Islamic prayer is designed to reinforce the claim that this location is Muslim territory. Whether a neighborhood or a nation. It's all about claiming more turf for Allah

These yodelings at dawn and long after kid's bedtimes--another gesture of triumph over the West. Forcing this nuisance on people successfully will embolden the thugs further, just like putting their daughters into public schools with their own version of the KKK robe.

We were doing heavy lift operations with helicopters. We had a schedule we had to adhere to as to not interfere with calls to prayer. The rotor wash ruined the wonderful muse.

The Islamic call to prayer is a verbal statement, saying a certain thing ("Yo! Dude! Get thee to the Mosque!", I would imagine). 5x a day subliminal brainwashing. Reminds me of:
Daniel 3:4 Then an herald cried aloud, To you it is commanded, O people, nations, and languages,
Daniel 3:5 That at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up:
Daniel 3:6 And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.
***
The king called up his jet fighters
He said you better earn your pay
Drop your bombs between the minarets
Down the casbah way
The words "flee Babylon" come to mind...
