"Gorelich imposed a seperation between FBI criminal investigators and FBI counterintelligence agents! She wouldn't let the FBI communicate with the FBI."Yes, I believe this is the wall that Ashcroft was discussing.

Do you think Kean's "stay out of our business" comment could be a strategy? How meaningful is that "R" by his name? If he kicks Gorelick off immediately, then he's partisan and the Republicans take a hit. By doing what he did, he passes the ball back to the people who can create a groundswell, keeping him out of it. If all goes well, in the end, Kean may be "forced" to kick her off. Of course, conservatives would take the usual media bashing, but Kean and the Commission would remain neutral. Any opinions on this?

anonymous legislator apparatchik would probably be a better word here
1 : a member of a Communist apparat 2 : an official blindly devoted to superiors or to the organization

Thank you! That, in a nut shell, is why Gorelick was put on this commission. She is literally hiding in plain view.yes, she can help direct the questioning away from herself or xxxlinton as well

Excellent question, Fitzcarraldo. The general theory is that it makes it difficult for domestic intelligence officers in the FBI to "spy" on Americans. Other than that, its hard to understand.

I am CONVINCED (no tinfoil required) that the DemocRATcommunist Party in America is at the center of the WORLD MOVEMENT to throw our Constitution out completely and relegate God's greatest national gift to mankind to the ash heap. Not on a FReeper's watch, I say...

Do you think Kean's "stay out of our business" comment could be a strategy? How meaningful is that "R" by his name? I don't think it means a damned thing to him. He's been complaining and whining about Bush, Rice and Cheney ever since he was appointed to this damned commission. He's spent so much time covering for the democrats while they've launched one attack after another against the President that I expect to see him in Kerry's Cabinet should we ever completely go over the deep end and elect that weasle.

"Why were these roadblocks set up?" Gorelick knows the true reason for the "wall"...
Everthing Clinton did was to protect Clinton. I suggest that Clinton wanted to restrict info sharing between FBI and CIA in order to protect investigations into potential criminal cases regarding his actions and the actions of his close friends. The "gag order" was Clinton's way to limit investigation into his affairs...why else would agents be threatened with their careers?
Perhaps Freepers can connect the dots and recall what investigations into Clinton would have been advanced had the FBI and CIA shared info. (Chinagate for one?)
It was always about Clinton.

"Good spin! Take the heat off of Ashcroft..." What heat's on Ashcroft?! The Leftists on the Commission never laid a glove on him.
"...pin the blame on a mostly anonymous legislator who wrote a memo that no one will bother to read."
Say what?! Are you talkin' about Gorelick's memo?! It was an agency directive, handicapping the GoodGuys from catching the BadGuys!! I reckon a lotta folks are gonna end up reading that li'l "memo"!!
"Then get "Morris the Merc" to take a giant dump on her in the press. This was really well done."
Politics ain't tiddly-winks, Lefty!! This women has the blood of 3,000 Americans on her hands and needs to go to prison...or else turn state's evidence on SlickWillie, in which case, we'll let her walk!!

What's much more likely to happen, now that the story is gaining legs despite the media's best efforts to kneecap it, is an all out assault on John Ashcroft and George Bush. They'll actually claim that Ashcroft's release of the Gore-lick memo is the Administration's attempt to politicize these heretofore "non-partisan" hearings. That will happen only if the GOP allows it to happen. Sensenbrenner got the ball rolling today...we need to insist that the GOP get in line behind him. It's time we started fighting back and I'm not going to get off my Congressional delegations back until I hear them on this loud and clear!
