We have received reports that the Vietnamese Government has brutally repressed Saturday's peaceful prayer rally by Montagnard Christians in the Central Highlands and many have been killed. Reports are ranging from 200-2,000 people killed; however, at this time we have been unable to confirm these reports. At this time the US is trying to gain access to these regions, but the Vietnamese government has shut off the area to outsiders. We will update as we receive new information, but at this time we cannot confirm any information.

An estimated 400 Christians have been killed during peaceful and prayerful demonstrations by Christians in the Central Highlands of Vietnam.
On Saturday 10 April up to 400,000 Vietnamese Christians, from the Degar people, gathered in several Vietnamese cities to demonstrate against the governments refusal to allow them to follow the Christian faith freely.
The demonstrators in the cities, which included the Central Highland city of Buonmathuot, were attacked by soldiers, police and other Vietnamese civilians. The Christians were shot at, beaten with electric batons and bombarded with rocks and stones. Hundreds were killed (400 according to one report) and many others have suffered broken bones reports the Barnabas Fund which works to

BUT DON'T YOU KNOW! THE COMMUNISTS LIBERATED VIETNAM FROM THE YOKE OF WESTERN OPPRESSION! THE COMMUNISTS ARE PEACEFUL AND THERE WILL BE NO REPRESSION AFTER EVERYONE IS UNITED UNDER THE GLORIOUS BANNER OF MARX AND LENIN!
LONG LIVE THE VIETNAMESE PEOPLE'S REVOLUTION!
We should bomb the damned Vietnamese communists in response to this atrocity. After all, what are they going to do about it?
It would be worth it simply to see the entire Democratic Party suffer a Vietnam flashback (or, rather, a protest flashback). It would bring out the worst in them (and that, damnit, is saying something).

If we moved to protect these people Kerry would protest it.
We know because he already did once.
I deeply distrust anyone who would vote for him.

The article above proves that those who died for our country in Vietnam did not do so in vain. They fought the good fight, and need to be honored as such. The Vietnam saga is not over yet.

I know that town and the central highlands; it's where I was stationed in 1967-68. The Montagnard people are quite primitive but very hard workers and extremely honest. We used to hire them to build bunkers for us. A normal work crew might consist of a twelve-year-old honcho and nine or ten-year-old workers. They busted a hump and wouldn't stop for a break till you told them to. Even then the regular Vietnamese treated them as third-class citizens. It was shameful. They'll be in my prayers, too.

It is not over. Believe it or not, the system is fading. The Montagnards are emboldened by the weakening of the Communists (or veecees as they are almost universally and derisively known throughout the country).
Of course it flashes back on them as the dying snake lashes out, but they know it is just a matter of time, short time, until the snake dies.Their insistence on their Christianity is helping it to die. The viciousness of the attack is due, in larrwge part to the novelty of the Conversions. It has all happened in only a few years and the veeees are panicking. The Catholics do not suffer the violent repression any more because Catholicism is centuries old and is Vietnamese. It is not seen as revolutionary though the legal and social disabilities are great for Catholics.
The Mountain people will pull through this and will be strong, very strong. Their blood is baptising the New Viet Nam that is already breathing and breathing well beneath the tattering shroud.
