Rush Limbaugh

Posted on 04/14/2004 9:12:12 AM PDT by Pukin Dog

Rush just said it on the air! If that is not enough to remove Conservative support from Spector, I dont know what is.

Yes, I heard her (Cynthia from St. Louis). She said she was a Democrat, but was so upset with the way the press attacked Bush last night. It was quite touching.

Apparently the moderate Republicans on the Main Street board missed Soros's April 8, 2002, speech at the University of Pennsylvania where he said, "If we assess the foreign-policy accomplishments of the Bush administration since Sept. 11, the scorecard is quite dismal."

"There are some people in the Bush administration who have the same mentality as Arafat or Sharon," Soros said. "I can name names, like Ashcroft, Cheney, and Rumsfeld, although that is considered impolite.... [T]he war on terrorism cannot be won by waging war. We must, of course, protect our security; but we must also correct the grievances on which terrorism feeds."

[ end snip ]

Main Street Republicans was formed after April 8, 2002, and could have reviewed Soros positions at the time it was formed, or when the donation appeared, etc. I don't know why they'd be upset about taking Soros' money anyway. The more money they have, the more vigorously they can advocate their position. I'd think it'd be good to get money from the opposition, to advocate your own preference.

Keating is also wrong - voters are a lot more savvy on politics and do know who Soros is.

Oh, please! The Sheep? The pathetic herd animals known as American voters?

As long as they have their bread (free prescriptions and food stamps) and circuses (reality shows, Springer and "Friends"), they will happily and mindlessly vote for whoever Katie/Peter/Tom/Dan tell them to vote for.

They've been told, over and again, how life was better in the Nineties, under William the Impeached. Any candidate that promises to turn back the clock to the days before Lewinsky, will get the herd's vote.

Goldman-Sachs will be Golden-Sphincter next term - they are in deep, and this guy needs a chance of law enforcement.

Look for Rubin to come before a committee next term as well.

It's well known that Arlen becomes conservative only when he's running for reelection. I live in a Pa. border state (WV) and have seen the TV ads and heard the radio ads where he touts how he supported the Bush tax cuts. Well, thanks for that! How about the rest of your miserable record, Snarlin' Arlen?

There's a good reason Pittsburgh radio talk host Jim Quinn calls him Arlen Sphincter!

Not unlike Hillary Clinton and Al Gore getting caught with campaign donations from Hamas and Hezbollah.

George Soros is a great example of how someone can be a genius in one area and a complete retard in another.

That's like me, I fear.

I am great with airplanes, but terrible with women.

We'll know soon enough.
If Fox reports it, then you know it isn't so much inside baseball afterall.

Rush also doesn't bother with that type of stuff and he reported it.

I like my women like I like my airplanes; fast, maneuverable, with a nice tail section and not a lot of hours on the the frame.

Is that the same group I mentioned in the post above do you think, or a different one?

"The Main Street Individual Fund -- a 527 group that has a similar views and goals as the pro-moderate, anti-conservative Republican Main Street Partnership -- announced Tuesday it would be spending $200,000 over the next two weeks to help Specter."

The NRO article cites two different groups supporting Specter. The Main Street Individual Fund took a large donation from Soros.

http://www.nationalreview.com/geraghty/geraghty200404140840.asp <-- Link

"The Republican Mainstreet Partnership, a group of lawmakers who often vote against bills backed by President George W. Bush, raised a record amount of money in the first quarter, helped by current and former executives of Goldman Sachs Group Inc. ...

" The 64 congressmen belonging to the partnership, including Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter, have bucked Republican leaders by voting with Democrats on their opposition to Bush's tax cuts and their support for spending more on the environment and health care. Republicans control the Senate with 51 of 100 votes and the House with 228 of 435 seats, which often can give the Mainstreet Partnership lawmakers a decisive bloc of votes."

That is from the Bloomberg article that you noted, and describes an alliance of legislators acting as a bloc.

Rush also said that Soros funded the Democrat's ad yesterday that called for a hit on Rumsfeld.

The ad from the St Petersburg Democrats cost $94. Does Rush honestly think that they needed to hit up Soros for $94?

It could be that a large portion of the PA Republican registration has not heard of Soros and would not be alarmed by Soros' support for Specter. Specter people are committed liberals and party regulars. They will turn out to the polls.

You think that this is or will be an isolated incident?

One thing I do appreciate about the Dems is the neat way that they spread the sound bites across their networks. Call it a trial balloon - let's see if it works. These yoyos in St Pete didn't think this up all by themselves - they had help.

This smells of something a little bigger than a twice monthly feelgood club with 6 people on the roster.
