Applied Digital working on 'smart gun'
Palm Beach Post staff and wire reports
Wednesday, April 14, 2004
PALM BEACH -- A new computer chip promises to keep police guns from firing if they fall into the wrong hands.
Applied Digital Solutions of Palm Beach (Nasdaq: ADSXD, $3.11) announced Tuesday that its VeriChip unit has entered into a memorandum of understanding with gun maker, FN Manufacturing, to develop a "smart gun" that could limit the use of a gun to the owner or an authorized user.
An implantable chip would be injected under the skin of the gun's owner. The chip would then enable the owner to use the gun only after the chip sends a radio frequency to identify him.

They'll have to implant a digital "smart chip" in my dead body.
But first, I'll implant the chip implanting team with lead.

And what will the gun control freaks say the first (or hundredth) time that a cop is killed because his gun won't fire due to a malfunction?
Oh, well, at least we tried... our intentions were good...

Don't worry, I'm sure someone will realize the general public won't be able to identify gun owners simply by looking for their infected hands. You'll be tattooed with KOOK across your forehead first (assuming they get ~that~ far with you).

Gun owners will be "tattooing" a lot of foreheads first, but not the way people usually think of tattoos.

smoking ...
they just had a 1 for 10 reverse stock split ...
they also own "digital angel" a personal gps system and they develope the technology used to keep track of livestock , there are plans in place to have every animal chiped ..
I think I'll buy a few more shares ....

Criminals can hack a computer program, ATM or a car's computer in seconds.
Do they really think this will stop criminals?

How long before we would see 'VeriJammer' and 'VeriKey' kits on eBay? RF technology to unlock a gun? No thanks.

Do they really think this will stop criminals? The short answer in "yes." The long answer is "yes, because they are naive and stupid."

I actually love the idea of a smart gun like in "lost in space" or some what's in "Judge Dredd." We'd program it for me and my wife and our young kids and thiefs are out of luck.
I just don't think the technology is there yet, and implanted chips are the wrong way to go.

Do they really think this will stop criminals? The average idiot who'd steal a gun? Definitely.

Barbra Boxer and Fienstine have got to be doing back-flips.

And you'd implant chips in your kids? Really?
