A woman shot an armed man to death Tuesday after he attacked her as she was entering her east-side Detroit home, police said.
The woman, who owns a car dealership, was at the side door of her home in the 15200 block of Troester at 7:45 p.m. when a man ran up behind her brandishing a nickel-plated handgun, Officer Derek Jones said.

We cannot have "ordinary citizens" using firearms to protect themselves. She should have not resisted, given the perp what he wanted, then dialed 911 and wait for the police.
One does have to wonder though, why do the police carry guns? Protect themselves????

My brother hates guns. He often says, "Many people wish they had never bought the gun after it accidently kills a member of their family. Happens all the time. But, have you EVER heard of someone being glad they had the gun? 'Ooh, having that gun really saved my life.' No one ever says that!"
He's an idiot. I've refuted him many times (with articles like this one) and he pretends they don't exist and makes the same speech, all over again, at the next family gathering. Big Kool-Aid drinker.

In Detroit, she will still be treated like the criminal. I predict tens of thousands in lawyer fees and eventual bankruptcy.

I thought the last line of these types of articles was supposed to be: Pending an investigation, the D.A. will decide whether to file charges against the woman.
Now there is one less bad guy to worry about. His family will probably sue though, she could have just given him what he wanted, she didn't have to kill him.

My neighbors are the same way. My husband and I always wondered why people like this just don't put up signs in their yard saying that they are unarmed, peaceful hippy types. Something tells me they would be afraid that they would be robbed quickly.

Detroit police said citywide, at least eight people were shot in less than four hours Tuesday night. At least four of them were killed in the incidents which included a carjacking and an incident police said was drug related.They just had to lump this woman in with gun-wielding criminals, didn't they?
