Conservative political organizations are at odds over which Republican to support in the Pennsylvania Senate primary between incumbent Sen. Arlen Specter and Rep. Patrick J. Toomey.

The Mainstreet Individual Fund, a New-York based political organization of wealthy businessmen, has spent $200,000 in support of Mr. Specter. The group's two-week television-advertising blitz and voter-registration drives begin today in 23 counties statewide.

Arlen Sphincter...

Is this old fool a major RINO in the GOP or what!

I sure hope that Club for Growth can get rid of this infected carbuncle on the GOP's ass.

The article doesn't make sense:

Conservative political organizations are at odds....
The D.C.-based Club for Growth is a nonprofit conservative, pro-tax-cut group....
Mainstreet, however, is a nonprofit group committed to electing centrist Republican candidates....

Clearly, only one of the political organizations is "conservative". This "Mainstreet" group sounds like a stealth Democrat operation whose mission is to poison the GOP. No matter. I think Toomey will defeat Specter, and I think he will handily defeat that weasley little scumbag Hoeffel to win the Senate seat.

Miss Resnick said if Mr. Specter loses in the Pennsylvania primary, it almost ensures that Democrats will win his Senate seat....

This statement is idiotic, and Resnick offers nothing to support her wild conjecture. Hello, Ms. Resnick? Heard of Rick Santorum?

Miss Resnick said if Mr. Specter loses in the Pennsylvania primary, it almost ensures that Democrats will win his Senate seat, "and we cannot afford to lose any Republicans in the Senate."

Specter needs to be annihilated so that people that share Resnick's baseless theory get the message. I'm sick of 'Republicans' that keep advancing the idea that we need to move towards the "center" to win. Who in the hell came up with this lunacy? Before long they'll want us to advocate an 80% minimum tax, gun control, a Canadian style military, drive-thru abortions, and government ownership of industry. That way, we're sure to win! Toomey needs our support.

Two points on the inanity of these people:

1) I hope they spend all their money on voter registration efforts as noted, since the deadline for registering for the primary ended on March 29.

2) I also hope they, as the article suggests, focus their efforts on those who switched parties to vote for Rendell. Especially since those folks are now 'Rats and cannot vote in the closed PA Republican primary.

It's RINO-hunting time on April 27...

Please tell those of us in safe Republican states how we can contribute to Mr. Toomey's campaign. Specter is getting help from liberals in New York, so real conservatives should help Toomey.

What bothers me about this scenario is that both GW and Santorum support the 'senator from Scotland' and do not support the conservative Toomey. They are both, quite apparently, happy with Specter's liberal performance?????

kittymyrib (and other Toomey boosters) -

Go to:

www.pattoomey.org

or

www.clubforgrowth.org

Club for Growth will direct contributions to the Toomey campaign. They also spend money independently in support of Toomey against Specter.

I've never been a fan of this guy. He's know different than Kerry, a rank opportunist at best...a "typical" politician with all the negatives implied at worst.

All that needs to be said about Specter is that Howard Stern, in his book Miss America (1995), said he was the best candidate for president. Yes I bought the book and used to be a fan until I grew up (at 30).

Arlin lost me and proved beyond any doubt he is a RINO when he defended the VERY LIBERAL Ira Ihorn for the murder of his girlfriend. The brave Ira skipped the country and I think he is back. He was convicted while on the lam, and hid out in Europe.
Maybe somebody has more information on Ira.

As a PA resident, I'm concerned that this fight will so weaken the Republican candidate that in November we'll lose both the Senate seat and the state to John Kerry.

since the deadline for registering for the primary ended on March 29.

What makes you think that a silly thing like a deadline would interfere with the plans of an old Philadelphia Democrat?
