"'''The venerable status accorded this group of widows comes as no surprise given our times, an age quick to confer both celebrity and authority on those who have suffered."''''
And there it is in a nutshell. I've been concious of this trend for years now. It's the "Shutup! You don't know the trouble I've seen so YOU can't tell me anything!" line of thinking. It's 180 deegrees off of the way of thinking that predominated in America since the beginning.
"'''I'm finding it harder and harder to feel much sympathy for this group of families."'''
I don't feel any sympathy for them anymore beyond the most fundamental Human pity. Ideas are science not emotion. Change that and a society can no longer guide itself.
These Jersey jackasses are wilfully corrupt.

"They need to take a look at Lisa Beamer, how she handled her loss with such grace and sought comfort in the Lord." Exactly right. Lisa was the epitamy of class, unlike the Jersey winches, who disgrace themselves by playing politics over their husband's graves. Sickening.
I don't know if I'd agree with that characterization of Lisa Beamer being classy -- she did co-sign a letter to the New York Times defending Robert Torricelli, after all. Ever since then, I lost all respect for her.

Selfish jackasses and stupid as heck too. Products of the me me me me me me psychotherapeutic culture. Obviously the million+ dollars laid on them for their losses weren't enough for these emotionally greedy people.
I pray the American people see through these jerks! Any military family has 100 times more honor.

America reached deep in her pockets to aid and comfort these people. If that were not enough, the government offered many millions more to these families in an unprecedented way, hoping to avoid the destruction of the airline industry by massive lawsuits. It's all about money and power in this generation. These types would destroy this country just to make a name for themselves, pawns in a political machine more interested in self-promotion than the security of our nation. They are an embarrassment to our nation, the joy of our enemies. What need is there of a Tokyo Rose when there are tools in our country like these?

.... But she wound up getting sidetracked into family law, and just three days into her career at a firm specializing in divorce, she quit the profession, finding it corrosive to her psyche. ... She needed to find a new direction, and, fortunately, she could take her time finding it. The summer of her bar exam, she'd started dating Ron Breitweiser, a rising money manager from Rutherford, and five months later they eloped to a secluded Caribbean island.
So sadly, we all have to suffer while she finds another "new direction".
Hey, Kristen, therapy would be cheaper and easier, for ALL of us!

Nothing like stepping on your husband's tombstone so an audience can better hear your shrieks.

Because it suits their agenda. Notice how they are screaming for the truth, all the while lying about what really happened.

They are saying that the Pentagon people were expecting "something" that day so they all canceled any flights they had booked, I guess.
BTW, I read your link about your friend Jerry; very touching.

I think Toricelli used her at a time when she didn't understand how all that works.

I landed on the pavement; and looking at the broken bolt, I just laughed: "All I can say is wow!" I've gotta try that. If it works for the dreaded sheared-off bolt, it should work in almost any situation. Dunno if it would be adequate in the case of the even-more-dreaded broken EZ-Out, though.

Thank you for telling me.
I can't bear to watch the hearings.
You and Rush are right.
It's all for public consumption.
I have nothing but visceral contempt for these women.
They're worse than "useful idiots" for trading on the deaths of ALL 9-11 victims, not just their dead spouses.
Beyond disgraceful.

These are NOT grieving widows, imho. I think they are busy making names for themselves, at the cost of a Country at WAR, having the time of their lives, and getting expense paid trips to all over. I've had enough of them and thank God the OTHER almost 3000 widows/ers are NOT acting this way!
