Yor sir, are disingenious.
We are in a declared war, or do you wish to deny this as well.
Also, if the "next in line" were to refer ONLY to the Speaker of the House it would have stated such and not "or other officer". Unless of course you are trying to claim that this was written soley for the case when the Speaker of the House, the President Pro Tempore of the Senate, the Secretary of State and the Secretary of the Treasury were all to be somehow "removed" from office and THEN a threat were made against the Secretary of Defense (assuming of course that these positions had not been filled in the interim).

We are in a war, there is no doubt about that. But laws dealing with sedition usually have formalistic requirements - that is what I was asking and did not mean to have you take it as an attack. I was just curious what the law requires to invoke that.
As for "or other office" read the next three words.

Wait...what you said is what I claim...all of the above must be eliminated for 18 USC 871. Other laws may apply, however.

Donations To Bush
A Marine colonel on his way home from work at the Pentagon came to a dead halt in traffic and thought to himself, "Wow, this traffic seems worse than usual. Nothing's even moving."
He notices a police officer walking back and forth between the lines of cars so he rolls down his window and asks, "Excuse me, Officer, what's the hold up?"
The Officer replies, "President Bush is just so depressed about being behind in the polls that he stopped his motorcade
in the middle of the Beltway and he's threatening to douse himself in gasoline and set himself on fire. He says he can't find donators to give him money for his campaign. I'm walking around taking up a collection for him."
"Oh really? How much have you collected so far?"
"So far only about three hundred gallons, but I've got a lot of folks still siphoning!"

Any comment similar to that threat would be immediately pulled here. Jim wouldn't buy the "figure of speech" explanation, and he's a reasonable man.
Even if those idiots didn't mean it literally, it doesn't make the comment any less dangerous and inciteful.
