While the USSS will look at this, I doubt charges will be the result. Don't get me wrong ... I think the investigation will give Ken and Edna a proper scare. But here is the key in the follow-up statements:

"McCall said her club is in direct contact with John Kerry campaign. 'We're all working together.'"

Then where is the obligatory "I approve this ad" statement by Kerry? Isn't this a case of coordination (no "527" defense available) and a violation of McCain-Feingold rules? Won't this approach lead into the Kerry campaign? I think a BCRA investigation will end up having more impact in the long run.

Having just talked to Kennedy's office (thanks for the #) - it's already fun listening to them trying to disassociate themselves from this. Oh, he did mention they had several calls about it. Could hear a man's voice in background talking and caught the words St Petersburg. But my gawd, what did they expect after his statements of last week?? Kennedy's just as guilty as this little Florida club is.

they discount over and over again any relationship btw them and the ad (I believe them). But I repeated over and over again, that if they pretend like this is nothing, we will not. I told her in plain terms that calling for the assassination of the Sec of Defense is unacceptable and not a joke, and the FBI etc needs to get involved. I was calm, but extremely powerful in my outrage. I encourage all Freepers to call the FL DEM party, and Kerry.

I called the newspaper and a lady took my name and number and the editor actually called me back. Talked for about 10 mins. The guy says is was just a political ad. I told him they need to apologize. He said call the Fl Dem party (I did) and Kerry (did that too).

I don't care how much they try to slink out of this. As the party head of the state, they chartered the club, they support the club and represent democrats. Therefore they are as responsible for the content of the ad as much as the club is for taking it out. I told them as much.

I am trying to keep from calling Kerry's campaign since the head of the club ADMITS they are joined with Kerry to ask them why they believe in assasination of our Sec. of Defense. Don't know if I can control my anger enough to call them.

I just called to ask if I could place an ad to sell a gun. They said they don't take ads for guns. I mentioned what a bunch of hypocrites they were for placing the ad to take out Rumsfeld.
