?

The ad is scanned and posted at the top of the thread, and the paper is known

The post that started this thread was updated an hour later.

Call your local abc affiliate and complain about THE VIEW. I did. Timing couldn't be better with the Gabber incident. The girl at WSB in Atlanta became quite nervous when I mentioned The View and the Gabber in the same breath.

I wish Drudge would post something about THE VIEW. Can't imagine he likes these women after they had security remove him from the "green room" when he accompanied Coulter for her appearance on the show.

Have any of the "mainstream" media picked up this story?

Where are you, ABCCBSNBCCNNNewYorkTimesWashPost? Not even Fox News or the Wall Street Journal on-line edition? As Bobdole used to ask, where's the outrage?

If the St. Petersburg Republican Party had run an ad advocating the assassination of a major Democratic figure, would it receive more attention?

What do you think?

There are many Democratic voters who, in point of fact, have nothing in common with those who they vote for.

Very good point. Truth is most rank-and-file Democrats are fairly conservative, even if they don't know it. But how to wean them from the Dem teat, which is attached to the federal teat, is the challenge.

If he can't understand the distinction between speaking literally and figuratively...

I'd be happy to take what the ad says figuratively — if the ad, itself, was constructed to allow me to do so. However, it is constructed in the literal:

It says: "The Iraqis aren’t insurgents. They’re Iraqi patriates..." Literally, the people who are killing our soldiers, kidnapping civilians of many countries, putting Iraqi civilians in harm's way, and making it difficult to rebuild their country after Saddam Hussein's 30-year predation are heros in the minds of the Democrats who wrote and paid for this ad.

The ad says: "We have Marines and soldiers being killed by the dozens...How many have to be killed before the Bush Bunch is satisfied?" Literally, the ad accuses President Bush and his Cabinet of WANTING our Marines and soldiers to die. In this context, the ad then says:

"And then there’s Rumsfeld who said of Iraq 'We have our good days and our bad days.' We should put this S.O.B. up against a wall and say, 'This is one of our bad days,' and pull the trigger."

The whole construct of the ad is literal, so the author of the ad leaves no room to take the Rumsfeld comment in any way other than literally. It sets up a reason why Rumsfeld should be executed (deliberately sending our Marines and soldiers to their deaths for no good reason in Iraq) and then calls for his execution.

Reminds me of an old saying:

"Never interfere when your enemy is committing suicide."

Just let them keep this up. Hate and revenge didn't work for the Dems in 2002, and it won't work this fall.

"At the point MineralMan posted, Drudge only had the teaser up that an unnamed Floriduh paper took the ad, and the image the Admin Moderator put on there as part of the update wasn't available yet "

Thanks for clarifying. IMO, it's a very good idea when entering a long, well-established thread, to read through the entire thread before posting. This one has hundreds of messages, but folks are still replying to Post #1. It's a waste of space, when reading down the thread will answer most questions.

You are so right! It is way too important for anyone to advocate sitting home or even voting 3rd party in battleground states because they don't like an issue -- they need to wake up and realize one or two domestic issues makes no difference compared to the much larger picture of our national security!
